BOSTON — Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed today during a press conference that veteran center Marc Savard is scheduled to come to town for tomorrow’s “rolling rally” downtown in honor of the Stanley Cup champions.
Savard was the only member of the Bruins to not attend Wednesday night’s Game 7 victory, as he’s still recovering from symptoms of post-concussion syndrome.
Chiarelli said he’s not sure about the process for petitioning the league to get certain players that don’t meet the criteria to have their names etched on the Cup, but that Savard, Steven Kampfer and others would be worthy of that sort of immortality.
“You know certainly those two deserve to be on it, so we’ll see what we can do to get them on it and go from there,” said the GM.

If they need space they can just take Cooke’s name off of it. It’s bad enough for Savvy, they need to find any way they can to share this win with him.
It’s sad to see how he still hasn’t recovered. What a waste. How is Cooke still playing? Why is he/Ott still playing? Love Savard or not, it’s sad to see a great player walk away due to injury (Orr/Neely/Kluzak)
Savard’s name on the cup shouldn’t even be questionable. He is a well worthy team mate and MUST be on the cup. BUT bettman will have some stink about it because Savvy is a canadian and we know how much he hates us canadians. Way to go boys made all us born and raised fans proud!!!
They should find a way to get Savard’s name on that cup
who?
I read somewhere that injured players and other extenuating circumstances will be allowed to be put on the Cup…that would be really crappy if an injured player be left off…
