BOSTON — Around one million people showed up to salute the Bruins and their drought-ending Stanley Cup championship downtown today.

Eighteen Duck Boats carried the players, coaches, front-office personnel and assorted others through the streets from the TD Garden and back during the Rolling Rally parade.

Along the way, the Stanley Cup was passed around and shared with fans. And even tough guy Shawn Thornton got emotional.

“It was more overwhelming than I expected. It was an unbelievable turnout,” he said once the rally was over. “I didn’t know that many people lived in Boston, let alone be on the streets today. It was an awesome, awesome experience.
