Former P-Bruins boss Murray’s moving north to coach Alaska Aces

A little Northern exposure is going to allow Rob Murray to keep his coaching career going.

Murray, who found out the Bruins would not be retaining him as their head coach for their Providence (AHL) farm club back in April, was introduced today as the new head coach of the Alaska Aces of the East Coast Hockey League.

The Aces won the Kelly Cup championship in 2011.

Murray spent the last eight years grooming players for the Bruins, including the last three seasons as the P-Bruins’ head coach.

Even after he wasn’t retained by Boston, Murray diligently finished out the length of his contract by working with the Bruins’ “Black Aces” during the playoffs. If that didn’t prove what time of a devoted guy Murray is, I don’t know what would.

Murray has been replaced in Providence by his former assistant Bruce Cassidy.
