In addition to signing defenseman Adam McQuaid today, the Bruins also made two minor moves — inking center Craig Cunningham to an entry-level deal and defenseman Zach McKelvie to a one-year deal.
Both players are expected to play for the Providence (AHL) farm club this season.
Cunningham just finished up battling at the Bruins’ development camp. He went back to the WHL as an over-ager last season and put up 87 points in 71 games for Vancouver and Portland.
“He’s another individual … he’s improved his strength, he’s improved in all his testing,” said general manager Peter Chiarelli. “He’s just a got that’s got a real complete game.”
McKelvie was signed as a free agent out of Army back in 2009. He then had to do a two-year commitment to the military. He has since fulfilled that requirement but has missed two years of playing.
Here’s a link to a story I wrote about McKelvie back when I was writing for another company.
