USA Hockey needed to replace Brandon Saad and Jamie Oleksiak on its list of participants for next month’s 2011 National Junior Evaluation Camp.

Bruins prospect Brian Ferlin made the cut.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native, who just completed the Bruins’ development camp over the weekend, was named along with Scott Mayfield to fill the two empty spots Aug. 6-13 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Ferlin, the Bruins’ fourth-round pick last month, is the second Bruins prospect selected to the camp. Jared Knight, a second-round pick from 2010, had already been invited to the camp.

The camp is used to audition players for the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2011-Jan. 5, 2012, in Calgary and Edmonton, Alta.

Ferlin is scheduled to start his collegiate career at Cornell this fall. In the USHL with the Indiana Ice the last two years, he totaled 89 points in 112 games.
