Ferlin to join fellow Bruins’ prospect Knight at USA WJC camp
USA Hockey needed to replace Brandon Saad and Jamie Oleksiak on its list of participants for next month’s 2011 National Junior Evaluation Camp.
Bruins prospect Brian Ferlin made the cut.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native, who just completed the Bruins’ development camp over the weekend, was named along with Scott Mayfield to fill the two empty spots Aug. 6-13 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Ferlin, the Bruins’ fourth-round pick last month, is the second Bruins prospect selected to the camp. Jared Knight, a second-round pick from 2010, had already been invited to the camp.
The camp is used to audition players for the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2011-Jan. 5, 2012, in Calgary and Edmonton, Alta.
Ferlin is scheduled to start his collegiate career at Cornell this fall. In the USHL with the Indiana Ice the last two years, he totaled 89 points in 112 games.

The eighties were good to me. I probably forgot Caron because he hardly played. He should have played more. I do remember that.
Short memory ‘the other nifty’: Jordan Caron played 2 events ago! & your list of ‘possible’ players for this year should extend to 5: you’re forgetting Khokhlachev for Russia
I look forward to Christmas time and the world jrs. I’ve noticed that the B’s didn’t have a lot of players participate recently. Not for long. That’s a good sign having four with a chance to play. I think Marchand is the most recent and we know how that helped him. Cant’ wait.
Truly, if he is intelligent, he is one of the biggest contradictions going: an intelligent hockey player from Florida
Good luck to Ferlin & Knight at the team USA camp.
I hope you both make the team so I can watch you play in the world juniors over the holidays.
One of my favs at Dev Camp–seemed very intelligent and creative out there, always wanting to get involved in the play…I say give him about three years and he could be fully developed.
Impressive….
Great to here about him. He seemingly had a good d-camp also, looking solid for a 4th rounder for sure. He was on that line with Florek that was scoring right? A few years out, but fun to hear about!
