Bruins keep Chaput

Another of the handful of moves the Bruins announced today was the re-signing of minor-league forward Stefan Chaput to a one-year contract.

Chaput was a restricted free agent.

Last season, the Bruins acquired Chaput from Anaheim and assigned him to the Providence (AHL) farm club, where he put up 3-3-6 totals and a plus-7 rating in 15 games.

“We wanted to see where he would go. He’s still a relatively young player and plays a solid two-way game,” said general manager Peter Chiarelli in speaking with a pool reporter. “We weren’t ready to cut bait with him. We liked what we saw at the end.”

Chaput is just 23 years old, so he could provide Boston with extra depth on the wings (he shoots left).
