It seems Tomas Kaberle is the early favorite among Bruins current and former for strangest day with the Stanley Cup.
After all, he took the Cup down the rabbit hole to Wonderland with him.
Well, not really. He took it back to his homeland of the Czech Republic. But if you read this story by James Mirtle of the Globe & Mail and check out the accompanying photo, you’ll see why I thought Kaberle might’ve been hanging with the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat.
The Hello Piggy band? A shield and a sword? What Kaberle lacked in performance for the Bruins he has surely made up for with wackiness on his Cup day. Let’s hope for his sake the folks in Raleigh don’t scream “off with his head” after his first giveaway that sets up an opposing goal this season.

as far as blueliner rentals go… kabby >>> montadork.
The band looks like extras from the comedy movie “Transylvania 6-5000″
What is odd to me is that it is the Chzech Republic-why does the local band have an English name and why is that name “Hello Piggy?”
I thought it was nice that he and Krejci did some public signings together.
I can’t wait to see Chara’s castle.
Well, luckily not all countries are like America. He was given the shield and the sword by the mayor because “today’s (hockey) defenders need to be able to attack well, too”. His village has obviously existed for a while as it has its own coat of arms that you can see on the shield. He was celebrating in his local pub that has a ballroom attached to it (the Knights of Columbus reference is ridiculous), with a local bunch of amateur musicians entertaining their local folks. I am sure they are his friends and that they had a lot of fun there. It is a quite different culture from American beer gulping in front of a TV.
Check out the link on the local paper with the naked woman!
Whew! What a relief. I thought something weird was going to happen.
I don’t read too much into this other than it is rather funny!
That is… I don’t even know what to say.
My favorite bit from that article is this: “Captain Zdeno Chara has rented a castle in his hometown of Trencin, Slovakia, for his day with the Cup.”
Now there is a man who does it right. I only wish he didn’t shave that beard, because he looked like a king with it.
I’ve got all of the Hello Piggy casettes. They’re not as good as the Rolling Steins.
Wow.
well that explains why the Bruins didn’t go the extra mile and re-sign the guy.
