Report: Police are through with investigation of Bruins’ Chara
While we all wait with bated breath to see how this summer’s greatest crime mystery will conclude, the Canadian Press tells us today that the police investigation into Zdeno Chara has been concluded.
According to CP, via TSN, the case over Chara’s March 8 hit on Montreal forward Max Pacioretty has been transferred to criminal prosecutors.
CP writes:
Now that the investigation is over Crown lawyers must decide whether to lay charges over Chara’s devastating hit against Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty.
Chara was interviewed by police over the summer after the cops refrained from hassling him during the Bruins’ run to the Stanley Cup championship. Pacioretty has recovered well from a fractured vertebrae and concussion he suffered as a result of the hit. He’s expected to be fine when training camp opens next month.
I can’t wait to see the “Law & Order” Montreal, ripped-from-the-headlines version of this story.

..maybe those crybaby Canadiens should just play for the Spengler Cup instead of the Stanley Cup…like the big boys do..
speaking as a montreal resident and HUGE habs fan…
no we really do not have anything better to do with our time just wait for the next season to start lol
this is the biggest joke ive ever seen i want t file a wrongful prosecution lawsuit against montreal its despicable doesnt the MPD have anything else to do or real crimes to fight ..grow up hab fans seriously
I agree with RD’s posts, and I don’t even need to add to it. The only way this is an issue is if charges are made….now that would be a bloggers dream.
There are stupid fans in every city, and remember that’s who did this. Boston definitely has ours, but they just haven’t convinced the BPD to start an assault file on Joba Chamberlain yet. At least this should prevented Montreal from breaking out in Vancouver-like rioting. (a good thing?) The only reason we haven’t had such a strong response here to my memory is because we have FOUR very good teams to their one good team. i.e. all the testosterone in Montreal is channeled into that one team.
For clarity, this is referring to the “meathead” fans who do stupid things in and outside of games. This is not intended to call all MTL fans “meatheads” either as we have some good ambassadors (e.x. RD) for the reasonable class.
Actually, the main motivation of the NHL is $$$ so expect Montreal to get it’s fair share of events to host.
Suggesting to black ball the most storied franchise in the NHL (by a mile) seems like a bad business decision.
If Montreal wants to embarass the NHL than maybe consider that when choosing future all-star games and entry draft locales. That’s right black ball the idiots. Oh yeah Vancouver too.
Joke. Habs fans are weak!
Total joke. Worse than Arlon Spector and spygate. Joke. I’d be embarrassed if I were a habs fan.
What a waste of time and resources…
Thank god this charade is over. I think I am going to file a complaint with the BPD against both Matt Cooke and Matt Hunwick for practically ending Marc Savard’s career. Wahhhh Montreal, WAAAAHHHHH.
It was always a non issue. Someone filed a complaint, the police went through the motions.
