Neely spreading joy of Bruins Cup win with family in British Columbia
Bruins president Cam Neely probably dreamed of this every night for the last 40 or so years.
The opportunity to bring the Stanley Cup back to his hometown came today.
The Bruins Cup win over Vancouver had a more special meaning to Neely not just because of all the times he and the Bruins came up short during his playing days, but because Boston topped his hometown team, which was also the team that traded him 25 years ago after giving him nary a chance to succeed in a Canucks uniform.
Dan Rosen of NHL.com has a great recap of Neely’s experiences with the Cup, including a visit to the Cam Neely Arena and a visit to Belcarra Regional Park.
The Cup is scheduled stay in British Columbia with Mark Recchi and then Milan Lucic over the next couple days.

Apparently he grew up playing street hockey with former baseball great Larry Walker. I wonder if Larry got to give it a hoist?
Hopefully, the province/city does it right for you, Cam Neely. You played hard and deserved a cup when you were a player, but it just didn’t happen.
So nice to see Neely win the cup. The guy was all guts when he played the game and I suspect that tough character rubbed off somewhat on the present Bruins. I can’t help but wonder if Cam initiated the trade to bring Nathan Horton to the Bruins. Way to go Cam. From a Bruins fan in Ontario, Canada. GO BRUINS!!
