Neely

Bruins president Cam Neely probably dreamed of this every night for the last 40 or so years.

The opportunity to bring the Stanley Cup back to his hometown came today.

The Bruins Cup win over Vancouver had a more special meaning to Neely not just because of all the times he and the Bruins came up short during his playing days, but because Boston topped his hometown team, which was also the team that traded him 25 years ago after giving him nary a chance to succeed in a Canucks uniform.

Dan Rosen of NHL.com has a great recap of Neely’s experiences with the Cup, including a visit to the Cam Neely Arena and a visit to Belcarra Regional Park.

The Cup is scheduled stay in British Columbia with Mark Recchi and then Milan Lucic over the next couple days.
