It appears the Bruins’ stable of young, up-and-coming defenseman has been reduced by one.
According to Sports.ru, Yury Alexandrov is leaving the Boston organization to sign with SKA St. Petersburgh of the KHL.
The 2006 second-round pick (37th overall) skated in just one professional season in North America, and it was a roller-coaster ride with more dips than high points. He finished last season with the Providence (AHL) farm club with 6-13-19 totals and a minus-6 rating in 66 games for the playoff-less P-Bruins.
Alexandrov turned 23 in June.

Well done, Bojangles.
JPT – Frankly I’m sick and tired of your sorry act. You want to talk hockey – let’s talk hockey. But all the grade school name calling is OLD. You call our team a bunch of goons – We call yours a bunch of sallies. OK – Do we all get it yet? Enough!
Frankly – I’ve seen nothing much more from you than this, but honestly, what else can you add. No one here wants to talk Xs and Os or line combinations for the Habs, so what are you going to do other than act like a 10-year old and take cheap shots about drafting Hamill or cry about how your team got utterly intimidated by a far more physical club. Do you hear us whining that your club skates circles around our D? Why do we have to listen to you complain that our club makes yours dribble down their legs when they go to the corners?
JPT – if you want to talk hockey fine. If you want to act like a whiny little kid – FOR AS LONG AS YOU HAVE – I don’t give a rats ass what anyone on here calls you b/c I’m sick of all your bullshit.
I say this with all DUE respect of course!
Later (hopefully MUCH)
I think the only thing that may be better than winning the ‘Cup last June is having a genuine Habs fan, still whining on this blog. Personally, I’m loving it.
Shawn
You have a problem. JPT’s comment are easy to take to task. You are out of line when you threaten and use racist names. Your attitude is similar to those who smashed cars in Vancouver, beat up a Giant fan in L.A., or harassed Boychuk’s parents in Vancouver. You need to follow David’s advice.
Bryan
I kind of like taking a Hab fan to task on occassion. For the most part, I don’t mind JPT’s comments. He has taken more than share of lumps on this website.
Shawn,
You are taking this WAAAY to serious, man. JPT mostly comes on here just to annoy us/be facetious. He doesn’t ever insult us on a person to person basis as you did to him, and all his opinions are pretty obviously biased as he recognizes, so it may be time to take a deep breath and take a cold shower.
JPT,
No one is denying Subban is a talent, but the bruins don’t want a player who is so self centered and unwilling to take care of his own trash. Same goes for the Kostisyn sisters. keep subban, he may be talented, but like a lot of players in Montreal, his ego is the size of Quebec. And don’t worry, our cup isn’t tarnished: We just got a guy who is decent at his job to make the discipline ruling this year. If he was with us when Cooke made the hit, he never would have been suspended in the last couple games of this past season because he wouldn’t have played. I do hope Shanahan is good at this job and the ruling start to make sense for the ENTIRE league though.
MattK,
Thanks once again for keeping the blog classy and very enjoyable. I find it rare that a bad comment is present, and when I check back it’s always gone so thanks for keeping it clean!
JPT,
Isnt there a Montreal fan site you can go post in with the other whiners and pansies who are pissing and moaning about how the Bruins beat your beloved Habs to win the Cup? Im sure your fellow skirt wearing Canadien fans would glady welcome the addition of another yellow backed, self rightgeous puke bucket.
Lets look at the facts:
Fact 1: The Bruins knocked out your Habs on the way to winning the cup by beating them in a 7 game series that DID NOT involve any GOONING it up as you have proclaimed. The only fights that were seen in that series were in response to a cheap hit by Pouliot and another one by Wizniewski.
Fact 2: Yes, the Bruins ranked 2nd in regular season fighting totals… our boys like to throw em and back up the talk. But the important fact to note here is that Montreal finshed 21st in total fighting majors, behind 2/3 of the NHL. So do you really have a problem with the Bruins being physical with your Nancies of a team? Or is it the fact the Montreal has failed to bring in any muscle since Laraque and cant keep up with the rest of the NHL, EH?
3) I am sure you are gonna point to the Feb 8th game (again) as evidence of the “Big Bad Bruins” (wahh wahh wahh) taking advantage of the Hab (nots). Take a look back at the tape of Greg Campbell and Pyatt. Neither had thrown any punches but had just squared off togetheruntil Pyatt started tossing them at Campbell. At that point, he is fair game, and Cambell took it to him without any cheap shots.
Fact 4) How many CUPS dose the GREAT PK Subban have to his name? If diving, running your mouth, starting sh*t and not backing it up count toward measuring greatness, then you have a hall of famer.
Fact 5) Congratulations on winning the regular season. Didnt mean squat. And honestly, congrats on going up 2-0 in the series against the B’s. But there is a reason the Bruins came back in that series and ultimately won the cup. They have guts, perserverance and a never quit attitude. You guys had us, and you didnt have the killer instinct to step on our throats. The Habs should have won the series, but they gave the Bruins and inch and we took a mile. The rest is history.
And JPT, that history is etched is silver and available on DVD. I suggest you watch it and move on to next year… all of this meddling in the past cannot be good for your psychiatric health.
This guy is a piece of shit that deserves everything he gets. My only, and I mean ONLY, regret it that I havent had the opportunity to meet him and find out if his is as brave face to face as he is on the computer.
JPT
You had no reason to jump to conclusions about Matt. He lives in the US and may be unaware of the connotation of Shawn’s comment.
You have to get off this idea that Colin Campell has protected/helped the Bruins. It wasn’t him that suspended Rome, and I agree with “Neely for Pres” examples. I didn’t think Paille should have received a suspension at all.
The Bruins won this year because of hard work, dedication, physical play, and outstanding defensive skills. Our series’ with Tampa Bay and the Habs were close (fortunately the Good Guys came through), but the Canucks should have only won one game, the first one. Against Philadelphia, a four-game sweep speaks for itself.
Make sure on the blog after our first regular season game against your beloved Habs.
JPT-
Done. Shawn, please refrain from racial comments.
And that goes for everyone. I will start marking commenters that violate the commenting guidelines as spam and your posts will not show up.

Alright, thanks Matt. Like your blog but wouldn’t mind seeing Shawn’s comment deleted. I hope I don’t sound like I am whinning, I would hate it if I started to sound like Nathan Horton.
JPT-
I have attempted to delete every racist comment I see. If I miss one, feel free to contact me through the site. Or find another blog to read.

Colin Campbell was the guy who let Cooke get away with decapitating Savard. And he wasn’t even involved in decisions involving the bruins once his kid was on our team, so just stop with the league favoritism crap. How about the suspension of Paille for the hit against Dallas. Suspension of Marchand for the hit against Columbus. Both borderline hits where we were dealt multiple game suspensions. There is no conspiracy and u really sound pathetic when u bring it up
Merci Bruin16, you are a classy poster.
Matt must work in the same office building as Colin Campbell. If I ever make a questionable comment it is deleted instantly. However if a Bruin fan makes a racist remark, it is A OK. Just like Campbell, a player in the NHL makes a questionable hit, he is suspended right away, but a Bruin makes that same hit, everything is fine.
Shawn
There is no reason for your ethnic slur at JPT. I enjoy giving it to JPT when he makes catcalls about the Bruins, but we do not have to denegrate ourselves by making racist comments. As well, what ethnicity do you think Bergeron, Marchand, Julien, Paille, and Caron are?
Matt
Making racist slurs is no different than how Chara was referred to, the other day.
Oh JPT, u just continue to perpetuate the image of your dear Habs as whiny, weak, and classless. Gotta admire your persistence though. It really must have been tough watching us beat you guys in 7 after you took the first two, and then you of course watched as Chara hoisted the cup probably saying something like “he shoulda been suspended for life for the hit on Paccioretti!”. This must have really been a tough off season for your weak, whiny, classless self. Make sure you tune in when we hoist the banner at the home opener I wouldn’t want you to miss that either.
Not goontown, titletown. And all of our teams have hard working players who play the right way. Regardless of where they were drafted. It’s coaching, it’s preparation, and it’s class.
Thats right Bruin16, that is the Bruins way. They know they can’t stop PK so they will try to purposely hurt him. Just like the Bruins couldn’t stop Pacioretty so they had to go out and hurt him on purpose. You guys won’t get off that lucky this year with Shanahan in charge instead of Campbell.
I agree with you Brad, it must have been tough to bring the Cup to Goontown knowing how tarnished the win was.
JPT
I hope this year the Habs can put P.K. Subban out on the ice without Gil. I know he will take very short shifts, if he happens to be on the ice when Horton and Lucic are on the ice. Zach Hamill has left a message on here that he is going to prove us all wrong about him as a player. I hope he is right. By the way what is Cory Urquhart doing nowadays; you drafted him ahead of Patrice Bergeron.
Good for Yuri if he got a contract in the KHL. The Habs have a number of first and second round picks that wouldn’t be offered a tryout, let alone a contract.
It was also tough to bring home the cup this season too. Subban is no doubt talented (though I liked the dive earlier in playoffs)…No organization is without their drafting follies. Fortunately we did draft the likes of Krejci, Lucic, Bergeron, Not too mention marchand and many other up-and-comers, Caron, Knight, Spooner…what have you.
Draft picks eh. How are Zach Hamill and Tommy Cross doing for the Bruins these days. Ya, those are the guys the Bruins picked before the Great PK Subban. No doubt the Bruins are regretting that. This Yury had no interest in being a part of the Bruins organization. Must be tough to take when someone would rather play in a place like Russia over Boston. Ouch.
JPT
Our “scabs” would start on your team.
JPT,
It’s one thing for a draft pick to realize he can’t adjust to the North American Pro style….it’s quite another when an NHL franchise player bolts to the KHL, as did two of your “scabs” this summer.
JPT
Your the last person who should chirp about draft picks. Look at the Habs past dismal record, with a couple exceptions, regarding draft picks. Remember, you picked twice, in 2003, before the Bruins selected Bergeron. (Kostitsyn and some other guy whose never played in the NHL) Say, maybe we could trade Yuri’s rights to Montreal! The vast majority of Hab starters were drafted by other teams. Stay tuned for the Pouliot transformation in a classy organization!
Yuri wasn’t going to play in Boston. Button and Hamilton will see NHL action long before him.
Finally, a Bruin draft pick with some class.
Not every prospect lives up to their potential. I hope he’s wiser for the experience and happy where he is. Doubt Khoklachev will bolt though. He’s already playing in canada
Meh… not surprised. He looked awful in the games I saw him play in Providence. Don’t know if it was the adjustment to the North American game or just a big adjustment coming to the US, but he looked timid.
Best of luck in Russia Yury
whateva… Sure hope Khoklachev doesn’t pull the same Sally act.
