After today, Michael Ryder’s ties to the Bruins and their 2010-11 Stanley Cup championship team will officially be through.

Ryder, who signed with Dallas as an unrestricted free agent in July, had his day with the Cup today in his hometown of Bonavista, Newfoundland. However, things didn’t start out as planned.

Unlike Nathan Horton’s day, which started with a late-arriving Cup, Ryder’s day started with a Cup injury. As you can see in this video, courtesy of The Telegram, the Cup took a little fall.

Ryder’s solid postseason performance last spring wiped out most memories of his ugly regular seasons from the prior two years. However, that his last act as a Bruin is to have the Cup drop and suffer a dent is somewhat fitting relative to his $4 million per year career with Boston.
