While the Bruins are convening in Wilmington, Mass., this week for informal pre-training camp practices, players all over North America are reporting to their respective teams’ home cities.
Tomas Kaberle has reported to his third different city in less than a year, as he has started practicing in Raleigh with some of his new Carolina Hurricanes teammates. The veteran defenseman, who the Bruins acquired last February via trade from Toronto, signed with the ‘Canes over the summer as an unrestricted free agent.
The change of team isn’t the only thing new for Kaberle. He also has another different sweater number. When shipped from the Maple Leafs to Boston he had to switch from No. 15 to 12. Now with the ‘Canes he’ll be wearing 51.
As Kaberle told Chip Alexander of the News & Observer:
“Something new. It’s a new team, a new number and a fresh start for me.
