Bruins’ Marchand doesn’t plan any number change this season
BOSTON — That No. 63 sure looks awkward skating around in real NHL games, but it’s been kind to Bruins forward Brad Marchand.
That’s why last year’s rookie revelation isn’t planning on making a number switch even now that he’s fresh off a 21-goal season and has a two-year, $5 million contract in hand.
“The only other number I wanted was 17,” said Marchand after today’s first day of on-ice training camp at TD Garden.
So unless Marchand wins a wrestling match with fellow forward Milan Lucic or has a change of heart, Bruins fans can count on seeing that No. 63 on the ice for a regular shift for years to come.

ironic that murray kept lucic from wearing #27 and had to take #17.
I kind of like his #63 and given how well he did while wearing it I could see him having some attachment to it.
Haha, I’m in the same boat. Already have the #63 jersey so the swap would be awkward. Mind you, if he keeps on progressing, years from now it would be cool to have a jersey with his “original” number on it.
The player makes the number the number doesn’t make the player.
Brad better stay with the same number, because I already have his 63 jersey. I just love the way he plays, and expect BIG things from him this year.
