Kampfer helped off/By S. Bradley
BOSTON — Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer left tonight’s game after he was hit along the boards by Ottawa’s Jared Cowen along the right wall of the Senators’ zone at TD Garden.
After the game, Bruins head coach Claude Julien confirmed Kampfer suffered a left knee injury. The second-year pro will undergo an MRI Friday to determine the severity of the injury.
Kampfer is currently battling Matt Bartkowski for the seventh defensemen spot. The Senators beat the Bruins, 2-1.

I wouldn’t say he’s “as fragile as a peach”…some unfortunate luck would be a more reasonable statement,…Chara breaking his nose in a game against the Pens last January…he had 2 hits that made the best hits of 2010-2011…one on Comeau and another on Skinner…he was “wrecked”, once, on a hit Selanne last season(no injury).
Let’s hope the MRI isn’t bad and he can get up to speed quickly.

Let me be the first to say that I Love Kamps game, but I fear there’s a little too much reckless abandonment in it for him to compete at this level. Just don’t think he’ll ever make it through a season. A guy his size can’t be playing like McQuaid and/or Boychuk. He needs to reign it in or spend his mid-age years forever wondering ‘what if’….

And the battle for the 7th D is over…for now. Really hope Kampfer gets better, and from where I was sitting, it looked a lot like a concussion, so I’m happy it was “just” a knee injury.
Thanks NfP. I agree, it looked pretty brutal, but let’s hope the news is better then it appeared. This kid’s whole game is based his wheels.

It was his right knee last year. This is a whole new injury and it did not look good at all.
Is this the same knee as last year? I went and looked through your posts last year MK to see, but it was just listed as a “knee injury”, no indication of which one.
Hopefully its not too serious and he comes back healthy ASAP.
Too bad.. I really was looking for kampfer to fill a D spot this year; depending on potential Bs defenseman injuries
