Thomas to take on Islanders in Bruins’ preseason finale tonight

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Tim Thomas will be the Bruins’ starting goaltender in their preseason finale tonight in Bridgeport, Conn., against the New York Islanders.
Thomas has previously played in two exhibition matches for the Bruins.
Head coach Claude Julien said that he could use Thomas the whole game or could turn to back-up Tuukka Rask at some point. Regardless of who’s in goal, tonight is the last chance for several roster hopefuls to make their case to Julien and the coaching staff.
Here’s tonight’s projected Bruins lines and defensemen:
MacDermid-Campbell-Clark
Marchand-Seguin-Pouliot|
Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Sauve-Kelly-Peverley
Seidenberg, Ference, Boychuk, Bartkowski, McQuaid, Corvo
That would leave Daniel Paille, Patrice Bergeron, Jordan Caron, Shawn Thornton and Zdeno Chara as the scratches.

I can’t see Caron out of the running because all signals are that he has had a good camp. I did watch two exhibition games and he seemed to give a good account of himself. I think Frank’s right that the pressure is on Clark and Pouliot.

If Caron’s had that camp that many have said, they are not going to make him an injury call-up. He deserves to be on the big club!
Yesssss! The decision is made: Caron is in. Well deserved with the camp he had. Clark & Pouliot must feel the pressure for tonight.
When I saw Caron at the Sen’s game he looked O.K., so my guess is he will either be an injury callup because he’s on a 2-way deal. But it does seem like a decision has already been made.
Would’ve expect Caron in there tonight for a last look to make the roster. Think his scratch is because he’s already done enough to make it, or he’s out of the running because he can be sent down without going through waivers?
