Report: Clark not staying with Bruins when season opens

Clark/By S. Bradley
Chris Clark suffered a broken nose while pursuing a spot on the Bruins’ opening-night roster.
Now it seems that wasn’t enough.
According to Boston.com, Clark, who was in training camp on a tryout basis, will not sign with the club. The Bruins’ roster must be set by 3 p.m. EST today.
Clark practiced on the fourth line the last couple days. If Clark isn’t retained, that should mean a roster spot for second-year forward Jordan Caron.
The Bruins host Philadelphia in the season-opener tomorrow night at TD Garden.
Bottom line about Clark–too slow, not as good as thought along the boards, and offers little that others on the team or in Providence possess!
Says a couple things to me – First, I was wrong. Second, I think the fact he didn’t keep up with the pace of the Canadiens caused him some problems. A third? Huge vote of confidence in Caron.
Clark seemed like a good leadership guy and hard worker, but the Bruins have several veterans who have shown they can be leaders for them. Clark just wasn’t needed on the team. I wish him the best. Caron deserved a roster spot. Alot of the younger players in Providence provide good depth after showing their abilities in camp. I’m still not thrilled about Pouliot, but I guess we’ll see if that experiment will pay off for them.
This says to me that MacDermid played himself into the 14th forward position. He was pretty good in camp, and deserved to be one of the late cuts. Too bad for Clark, he’s a good guy and could land somewhere that needs the leadership.
Too bad for Clark, apparently the Pouliot signing and Clark’s potential for being claimed off waivers and re-entry waivers were deciding factors in contract negotiations?
According to the boston.com link, it looks like the B’s are going to ‘weave in’ their ‘home grown’ players in case of injuries and player performance…which is a good option considering the talent they have on the P-B’s.
