Bruins morning recap as team preps for banner night

BOSTON — The Bruins seemed as prepared as they could be this morning during and after their morning skate at TD Garden.

You have to expect the team might lack a little bit of focus at the outset of the game against Philadelphia considering all that will go on tonight prior to the drop of the puck.

Milan Lucic said he slept pretty well but, “obviously there’s a lot of anticipation leading up to this game and you’ve been thinking about this game all summer long. It seems like yesterday we just won and here we are starting up again. But it’s great that the season’s finally here and we can get things going again.”

Here are some quick hits from this morning.

•Chris Kelly and Andrew Ference were announced as the team’s alternating alternate captains. Ference will handle home games, while Kelly will wear the ‘A’ for road games. For the second half of the season, they’ll swap those roles.

•Head coach Claude Julien said defenseman Adam McQuaid, who missed two days of practice with flu-like symptoms would be a game-time decision. McQuaid skated this morning. Julien also said he would make a decision on the 12th forward closer to game time. It appeared from the morning skate that either Jordan Caron or Benoit Pouliot would be the scratch.

Here are the lines from the skate:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton

Marchand-Bergeron-Peverley

Caron/Pouliot-Kelly-Seguin

Paille-Campbell-Thornton

•Tonight marks the return of Jaromir Jagr to the NHL for the first time since he left to play in Russia after the 2007-08 season. Jagr led the Flyers in scoring during the preseason.

“He’s a big body, right? Once he gets going it’s tough to stop him,” said Bruins center David Krejci, who was Jagr’s Olympic teammate in 2010. “He proved it in Russia that he could still play hockey, and he also proved it in the preseason games. So we know he’s here to play hockey, he’s ready to go. He wants to prove so many people wrong. I’m sure he’s ready to go. He’s a great player, but he’s going to have a tough night tonight.”
