You vote: Bruin of the Week
No doubt the Bruins players who reported to TD Garden Sunday for a lengthy video session could tell you that none of them deserve to be the Bruin of the Week after an 0-2-0 week against Montreal.
Nonetheless, we still have to look for a silver lining or three in the storm clouds hovering above the Bruins right now.
He didn’t assert himself for all of the Bruins’ six periods this week, but Tyler Seguin did show flashes with a goal and seven shots on goal against the Canadiens.
Tuukka Rask made his first start in more than a week and had one of the best games a goaltender can have and still allow three goals. Rask kept the Bruins in their second loss to the Canadiens with 23 saves on 26 shots and made a big-time poke check on Max Pacioretty’s breakaway.
One of the Bruins you can always count on for a 100-percent effort is center Patrice Bergeron, who just looks silly right now working so hard while many of his teammates slack off. Bergeron recorded an assist in Montreal and was credit with the goal that Tomas Plekanec shot into his own net in Boston. The Bruins center also won 50 percent (23 of 46) of his faceoffs.
So I ask you readers of TheBruinsBlog.net:
Who should be the Bruin of the Week?
- Tyler Seguin (45%, 67 Votes)
- Patrice Bergeron (38%, 56 Votes)
- Tuukka Rask (17%, 26 Votes)
Total Voters: 149
You know it’s a bad week when one of your candidates is nominated because he was credited for a goal the other team scored on themselves by winning a face off cleanly into their own net.
MattK,
On a week like this can you have a contest for best “bear” commercial? (you know, the ones with “Never leave early to beat traffic?”
Burn.
JPT…you have to try harder than that man…come on. Flawed logic aside that wasn’t even that clever. Tell you what…The leafs can keep their “Mr. October” and we”ll keep, Seguin, Horton, Campbell, Knight, Hamilton and The Cup. But please keep the posts coming…oh….and in regards to a post from last week where you ended by saying “olay”…it’s “ole”. I guess when Habs fans where stealing the song from Real Madrid they forgot to ask how it was spelled…unless of course you were making reference to Oil Of Olay…which sort of makes sense as Habs fans seem to spend a great deal of time talking about the 24 cups, Dyden, LaFleur and a bunch of other stuff that happened when the Habs mattered. However age defying cream ain’t gonna help.
I’m not panicking yet ’cause I still have some leaves on my trees. November is their easiest month. Time to make some hay.
Beantown, Krecji is my fave as well. Someone mentioned trading him because we have some players in the pipeline. Wrong. There isn’t one player I see coming up with David’s abilities. It’s a lot easier being the champs in the summer. Their target is as big as our expectations now.
There’s a handfull of teams that can win it this year. That was the case last year too.
If I had to vote for a Bruin of the week, I would vote for Phil Kessel. What’s that, he is not a Bruin anymore. Oops. I can hear the Leaf fans now, “Thank you Tyler”
Hey Beantown, nice of you!
I like JPT. He’s just bursting at the seams with emotion for his team.
Seguin was flying even though he didn’t lift the Bruins to a win. He’s going to be a great player for years to come.
Rask made some sick saves during his game in Montreal. There was one play where Andrei Kostitsyn deeked out a couple guys and passed off to Lars Eller for a one timer in the slot. Rask flew across and gloved it. It was one of those saves where as a hab fan, you groan and then grudgingly applause the effort and skill of the opponent.
Bergeron is a better center than a 50% faceoff man. He was definitely under performing by his standards. I think he was like 80% against the habs in last year’s playoff run.
I vote for Rask in the losing effort as your player of the week.
Lucic had a great week. He should be on that list.
I meant to say when we were up 3-0 against the Flyers*
Matt Kalman, I am a 19 year old sophomore at Umass Amherst. As a dedicated Bruins fan, i don’t comment on this blog very often but i have read every post and comment for the past two years. I love Cormac’s accurate analysis’s, I love Nifty’s blunt but accurate views of the team, and i love RD’s objective and reasonable post’s from our enemy’s fans point of view.
Most of all, i love JPT’s feeble attempts at brightening all our days through his laughable and incoherent jabs at everything about our team.
When the Bruins were up 3-0 it struck me that this team had what it takes to win the cup. Couldn’t believe that your article “it doesn’t take cormac to know these b’s will win the cup” only had one error, that you predicted we would beat San Jose instead of Vancouver. After we won i sent that article to everyone of my Bruins fan friends i know. Genius, great writing, keep at it!
Can we vote for the bear?
This must be some mistake…the bruins didnt play this week did they?
