Chris Clark suffered a broken nose while pursuing a spot on the Bruins’ opening-night roster.
Now it seems that wasn’t enough.

Kampfer/By S. Bradley
BOSTON – On media day at TD Garden yesterday, Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer admitted his injured left knee was feeling better but still sore.
What might be even more sore is Kampfer’s relationship with those ever-pesky “hockey gods.”

BOSTON – He’s in town for a couple days to pick up his ring, reminisce about old times and finally help raise the 2010-11 Stanley Cup championship banner to the TD Garden rafters Thursday.
Mark Recchi also decided to throw a little tease into the equation.

BOSTON — As of this afternoon, forward Chris Clark was still without a contract from the Bruins or any other NHL club.
Clark has been in Bruins camp on a tryout basis from Day One.

Coach Julien/By S. Bradley
BOSTON — The Bruins returned from their weekend of team-building activities and got back to practice today at TD Garden.
Everyone was present and accounted for except for defenseman Adam McQuaid, who head coach Claude Julien said was under the weather.

Caron/By S. Bradley
The Bruins have cut down their roster once again and now have 14 forwards in the mix.
When perusing the list, you have to figure that Benoit Pouliot, Chris Clark and Jordan Caron are the three players battling to be the 12th forward.
Advanced statistics are in their infancy compared to baseball, but in the great tradition of Baseball Prospectus a talented group of writers will once again bring you Hockey Prospectus this season.
The book will hit shelves in time for the season openers and is also available on Amazon.com.

Sauve
Depending on how you look at it, forwards Max Sauve and Lane MacDermid were either saved from having to go on the Bruins’ team-building excursion or they missed out.

Knight/By S. Bradley
Bruins 2010 second-round pick Jared Knight is going to have a little more responsibility this season during what should be his last year in London.
The OHL’s Knights yesterday named Knight as one of their permanent alternate captains for the 2011-12 season.

Thomas/By S. Bradley
WILMINGTON, Mass. — Tim Thomas will be the Bruins’ starting goaltender in their preseason finale tonight in Bridgeport, Conn., against the New York Islanders.
Thomas has previously played in two exhibition matches for the Bruins.

Pouliot/By S. Bradley
That number 67 looks a little odd on a guy who’s not a rookie or a free-agent invitee.
But there’s a method to Benoit Pouliot’s preferred sweater number that dates back to when he was a little kid.
