Photo Gallery: Bruins show signs of life in slipping past Sens

Caron/By S. Bradley
BOSTON — For at least one night, the 2011-12 Bruins showed glimpses that they are in fact mostly the same team that won the Stanley Cup just five months ago in Vancouver.
Five different players scored goals, 13 different players recorded a point, and the Bruins produced a solid forecheck and net-front presence in downing Ottawa, 5-3, at TD Garden tonight.
Ottawa had won six in a row. The Bruins head lost five in a row.
Johnny Boychuk scored what proved to be the game-winner 6:41 into the third period just 1:37 after Ottawa had tied the game. Here’s my NHL.com game story.

I think Boychuk is having a better start to this year than last year. Corvo has to stand his ground in front of the net or his playing time will resemble Kaberle’s last year’s playoff run. Caron should come up with more pucks and should hit more, but he was in front of the net for Boychuk’s goal. That is probably enough to see him dress again. Caron does back check and that is important to CJ.
Nice to see all of you who wanted to trade Lucic, a couple of days ago, give it a rest.
16 – Corvo, I think will take some time. But then again, when they picked him up I was kind of hoping for Wideman in the year he played well. Thing that’s got me with Corvo – says he’s taken 24 shots on net.. seems more like 4. I’ll give him a bunch more games before I get too excited though.
I’m ready to move on from Caron as well. He can’t handle with the big boys… he fumbles way to many pucks.
Glad to see Kelly rip one like he did. That was a big goal.
Oh.. Jury’s still out on Boychuk from this judge.. I once loved the guy, but he seems to have flatlined a little. If the Bs had any depth on D, I’d be talking tradebait. But, since they don’t – Go Go Go Johnny Rocket!
Good to see them get on Ottawa’s shaky D. Soup did a nice job of tying up Smith. I was worried he’d get his clock cleaned but he fought a smart fight. Loved the line of 37,63,19. They are tough to defend. Good effort. Good result. How many of you said oh oh when Cowens point shot found it’s way in. As good as the B’s played I was worried that maybe they’ve used all their bounces for ’11. Now it’s time to string some wins together and start climbing up the standings.
Two very nice things to see last night:
1) a shot off the post actually went in!
2) Paille was able to finish when sent in alone, instantly boosting the value of the fourth line.
Bruins16, I totally agree with you Corvo. I’m not sure if it’s the system the B’s play or what, but I cringe when he has the puck in his own zone. He hasn’t impressed on the PP either. He’s supposed to have a big cannon from the back but that’s no good if you can’t hit the net. The PB,BM,TS line was awesome last night. They could have easily had a couple of more goals and there was also some life in the Hulk line. Krecji still needs to pick it up though and Horton needs to get a couple garbage goals and get his confidence back. I still have faith that they will bounce back.
Cheers

Someone on this blog posted the other day that it was hard to watch Bergeron give everything he had while the rest of the team was having a Sunday skate. So it was nice to see the rest of the team show up last night…and what did Bergeron do? Just go out and elevate his game even more so that he was still head and shoulders above everyone else on the ice. If the The Cup run didn’t prove that PB is the heart and soul of this team then maybe his lead by example ways of this young troubled season will. Now the rest of the team just has to go out and take what we saw last night and repeat it another 70 or so times. However they still have to get a handle on the bad momentum killing penalties…but last night had to give us hope.
Still don’t have power at the homestead, and couldn’t get the game to come in on a crappy radio, but the Caps/Ducks game came in crystal clear (confused). Glad to hear about the W, though.
That was a disciplined, well executed game last night against a good hockey club in the Sens, who have some very capable top-6 forwards and production from the point. The Bruins kept their composure and did not distract from the game plan. They just kept coming wave after wave. Way to go B’s!
Good game. I think th Caron experiment has gone far enough. Time to try someone else. To bad, I liked what I saw last year.

Johnny Boychuk did hit the net at a good time tonight. I’m still disappointed some with Corvo. Not so much on the power play, but two times tonight he looked way too much like Dennis Wideman in front of Thomas. I was glad to see McQuaid get some more ice time late in the game. I thought he deserved it. Looked like the Bruins of last year tonight!
Paille played like last year’s playoffs as well!
