Hamilton/By S. Bradley
If the Bruins had any questions about Dougie Hamilton’s offensive upside, the young defenseman is answering them all this season in the Ontario Hockey League.
Boston’s 2011 first-round pick has been on fire.
Heading into Thursday night’s game against Oshawa, the Niagara IceDogs blueliner ranked ninth in the OHL with 23 points (seven goals) in just 14 games. He’s way ahead of the rest of the OHL’s defensemen in all three offensive categories.
The IceDogs are just 7-6-0-2 so far, but Hamilton is a plus-3. On Thursday, Hamilton was named the OHL Defenseman of the Month for October. What a great start to Hamilton’s tenure in the Bruins’ organization.
Here’s a quick look at how some of the Bruins’ other major-junior prospects are faring:
Jared Knight, London (OHL)
In 14 games, Knight, a 2010 second-round pick, has posted 9-5-14 totals and a plus-12 rating. But London has been ranked No. 1 in the MasterCard CHL poll for several weeks and the Knights already hold a nine-point lead on Owen Sound for first place in the Midwest Division.
Ryan Spooner, Kingston (OHL)
The Frontenacs sit in last place in the East Division (2-11-2-1) and Spooner, Boston’s other 2010 second-round pick, has started slow. He’s scored just four goals in 14 games. His nine points ranks fourth on the team.
Alexander Khokhlachev, Windsor (OHL)
Even if the Spitfires are nothing more than a .500 team, “Coco” is still off to a hot start. He leads the team with 13 assists and 17 points. He’s also minus-2 on the year.
Anthony Camara, Saginaw (OHL)
Although the Spirit is another last-place team, Camara has posted 3-9-12 totals in 16 games. He’s also just minus-5 with 29 PIM.

Again, who in the hell is Fat Bob?
Fat Bob – is that you?
As long as it isn’t Susie, Big Jim would be fine with it Patrick.
@Nifty, HAHA! I was sort of agreeing with Big Jim when I read your post. Good point my friend. However I think there is an exception to the rule for hockey players named Robert and Gordon. I looked it up and he goes by Dougie to differentiate himself from his father Doug. Steve is right though, who cares what he calls himself as long as he keeps up the offense when he makes it to the show. He can call himself Susan for all I care.
Big Jim agrees nifty. Others who need to consider going by an adult name:
Danny Briere
Joey Crabb
Joey McDonald
Stevie Johnson
Stevie Wonder
Jimmy Howard
Gordie Howe
When is Robert Gordon Orr going to stop being called Bobby.
Who cares what he goes by? As long as when he comes to the NHL he continues to put up points, I don’t care if he wants to be called Douglas, Doug, Dougie, DougDoug or whatever.
Now if only he’d start going by “Doug,” like an adult as opposed to “Dougie”
