P-Bruins: Riendeau reassigned, Clark signed to PTO (updated)

The Bruins’ Providence (AHL) farm club today announced it reassigned forward Yannick Riendeau to Reading of the ECHL.
This seems to be the corresponding move the P-Bruins had to make one day after they reportedly signed free agent Chris Clark to a Professional Tryout Offer Wednesday.
This afternoon, the Providence Bruins confirmed the signing of Clark.
Clark, of course, was in Bruins training camp on a tryout agreement and was cut just before the start of the regular season. He did not sign on anywhere else.
Riendeau went scoreless in his three games for the P-Bruins and continues to fail to meet the expectations the Bruins had when they signed him as a free agent after a 58-goal season in the QMJHL in 2008-09.
I agree that a D-man would be a good decision. We’ve got a clear top two, but it’s really hard to define after that.
Also, Pouloit hasn’t looked terrible, although he hasn’t looked great. The reason he should be on the ice is if he makes his linemates more dangerous or is dangerous himself with an up-tempo game. While he has the tempo part down, and the checking and takeaways (which has been impressive), he fails to do anything with these chances. If he can do something with it, his ice time will increase. I also don’t really see any great defensive plays from him, which does speak of a low hockey I.Q.
Defending the cup makes your road games that much harder. The fans want their team to beat the Champs and the home team doesn’t want to let them down. If the third or fourth line were a problem I’d think about moving someone. In this case I’d like to see the top six guys revert back to what made them the players they are.
Once everyone gets back to their usual selves then the B’s will start to win more than they lose.
If they do make a move I’d like to see a D-man come in. They’ve got plenty of bottom six guys here and in Providence.
Pouliot is like Paille in a sense that people need to move on from what he could be and just accept him for what he is. Pouliot is a below average 3rd liner and an above average 4th liner. He works hard and looks like he’s giving 100% effort to me, but just is not good enough to live up to what he was projected to be, which wouldn’t be the first time that happened to a player in the NHL. I’m not saying Pouliot is a problem on the Bruins or he’s hurting them, but his roster spot could be filled by a better player given the abruins cap space. Of course that depends on what Chiarelli could get done in a trade.

Your logic regarding Clark is correct, he did have a good camp. But if you use the same logic, then Caron should have been given more than one game before he became a healthy scratch. You are right that Pouliot hasn’t played that well. Some bloggers say you have to give Pouliot more of a chance, but getting chances for the Bruins have to be earned, not based on some minor league assignment. I think he will have a tough time playing on the the 3rd or 4th line. If someone out there thinks Pouliot should be a top six forward then tell me which of the following your going to drop;
Bergeron, Marchand, Lucic, Horton, Krecji, Peverly, Seguin, or Kelly. Enough said!

Alright, i really don’t know what games y’all have been watching with the way everyones been talking about Pouliot. The guy has been given skimpy ice time with no PP. When he has played, he has looked like he’s given far more of a shit than half the team out there. I can remember off the top of my head multiple body checks and take aways. His stick positioning was sound, it seemed like he always managed to get his stick on the puck every shift with his limited ice time.
I also don;t understand how everyone expected him to come here to add depth and serve a bottom six role, and yet people just seem to be looking at his goal column? and COMPLETELY disregarding the hustle he’s shown on the back check/ his play away form the puck? Wow, c’mon Bruins fans.
Unusual that Seidenberg and Peverley had back-to-back “maintenance days”….are they injured?
For the record, I’m not saying Clark is “The Answer” for this team, but he did show me in the pre season that he still belongs in the NHL. He’s a pro, he gets what it takes to grind it out night after night in the league. If he is brought up he will immediately add a different sort of presence to the team. I also wouldn’t be surprised to learn that a trade is in the works……
Poulliot is Daniel Paille 2.0. High draft pick, no offensive ability.
Neither he nor Caron belong at this level right now.
Rob Jo is right: strictly based on training camp, Clark should’ve made this team ahead of Pouliot. & the Bruins are on their way to correct this injustice. We’ve heard for the past 5 years that Pouliot ”has the skill to play in the NHL, JUST gotta put it together”. But it becomes obvious that despite his size, speed & shot, he doesn’t have a high hockey IQ & his offensive confidence is at zero. If he needs more time, it better be elsewhere ’cause there won’t be a lot of patience in Beantown with their current start.
I don’t understand why people are willing to give up on Pouliot this early on. I realize he hasn’t put up points, but he didn’t look awful when he was on the ice. It’s obvious he has the skill to play in the NHL, just gotta put it together. I’d be willing to give him some more time to show what he can do.
He should have been on the team to begin with. Caron may nned a liitle more time on the AHL, and we should tade or put Pouliot on waivers…..he has done nothing.
