BOSTON — The Bruins turned the page away from the Milan Lucic-Ryan Miller Affair and pulled out a dramatic win Tuesday night at the TD Garden.
Benoit Pouliot was the hero as he scored the fifth and final goal of the third period with just 3:01 left in regulation to lift the Bruins over New Jersey, 4-3.
The Bruins were tested for the first time in a while, as they had outscored their opponents 25-7 in their last four games. They have now won six in a row.
Here’s my game story from NHL.com.

Sorry Cormac I haven’t been on in a day or two. Yeah I would have my D switch if the right handed shot is going to the middle for a shot. The other D reads that and they switch to be on their off wings for one timers. That way they still have their sticks on the wall if a faceoff is lost.
Yeah… that’s about what I see from Caron. Nice piece for the 6-8 minutes a night on the 4th, with the ability to jump in on the kill. Not much from pick 22, though. Saying he’s better than Pouliot, ain’t no high praise though. He’s young, and I’ll willingly eat crow if he grows into something, but my gut tells me his perceived potential (1st round pick) will bring a piece back in trade more important to the Bs than his actual potential.
Make me wrong Jordy!
I like what I see from Corvo – I used to throw up in my mouth watching Kabby.
I’ll say this about Caron. That 4th line had been pretty unproductive in the oh-fensive zone this year, until he was put on it. The last game at least.
He’s a big body, that can skate, has good hockey sense, decent hands, and takes the body. That’s a recipe for a Bruin, if there ever was one, IMO.
Mike K
I haven’t been Corvo’s biggest fan, but he is an upgrade over Kaberle defensively. As well, his OFFENSE is an step up!
Bojangles
I think your a little unfair to Caron. He goes to the high traffic areas and checks more than Pouliot. I don’t know why but the Campell line (which he played on) didn’t get much ice time, after Thornton’s goal. During the second period, he was name was called some, and it was usually positive. I think the B’s management will give him every chance to be successful, since he is one of our draft picks and seems to have a good work ethic. I agree Kampfer wasn’t the only one responsible for the break down that led to one New Jersey goal, but his effort following was inexcusable.
PCL: I agree with respect to Corvo. This guy seems to know exactly what to do to get the team a chance to score a goal. Whether it be passing to the open man, or taking a shot on net to allow for a rebound. It seems he’s clutch. Maybe not an upgrade compared to Kaberle on the defensive end, but certainly is offensively.
Ok.. I gotta voice an opinion here. Very nice tip to Thorton by Caron.. and he’s pretty solid on the kill… but outside of that tip to Thorton for his score, Caron was invisible. His name wasn’t called once.
I may be alone on this, but I see that kid being flipped at the deadline to upgrade another spot on the roster. I just don’t think he’s got it.
Bruins16,
Caron is coming along pretty good with more ice time. He’s looking like a regular on the PK.
TON,
Do you think that a planned move by Corvo to cut in front of Seidenberg on the winning goal face off?
Bo,
Kampfer looked very weak on that play…he and Boychuk had trouble taking turns playing the left-D….Get Well Soon Ference!
B16 – I had to cover my eyes when they showed that replay of Kampfer getting toasted. That was really ugly. Kid’s gotta drive that wide. That was horrendous. Of course, he wasn’t the only culprit on that breakdown…
Cormac
I agree, I was disappointed his line didn’t get out much in the third period. He and Caron made great plays to set up Thornton. As well, I thought Chara had maybe his best game of the season. Somebody has to enlighten Kampfer that if he gets beat or coughs up the puck, he shouldn’t quit on the play.
I agree Bo and Greg. Spooner, as Matt said was OHL player of the week and today was named CHL player of the week. Good work Ryan. Thank Dog that Benny’s shot had enough to get over the line. Talk about “hurry hard”.
Hasn’t been the same since he switched formats. I like the old page better…
A bit surprised Campbell wasn’t a ‘star’ last night. He played a heck of a game.
Yes, props for the minors and juniors updates.
I’m with you, Greg. Sad times for Bs fans, but the brutha’s gotta get paid, and I’m certain he aspires to be more than a blogger.
It is tough though. Globe sucks. Kirk doesn’t update regularly, CSNNE is pretty good, but the posting for yucks like you and me isn’t any good. None of the other blog sites I’ve found fire me up…
Oh well – its still a pretty decent product (although no comparison to last year), and we get regular updates not only on the Bs, but also on their prospects. Whatcha gonna do?
Matt – We still love ya.
I used to like coming here. I cant blame him, but if I wanted to read nhl.com I would be going there.
Pretty entertaining game. Nice to Pouliot and Corvo for connecting on the GWG. Corvo just keeps looking better and better in the attacking end every game, IMO.
Glad that Marchand made up for his pointless roughing, but I was also happy to see The Claude sit him for a bit. I know that’s his game and all, but those penalties are infuriating sometimes.
That set face-off play, that they’ve scored with twice now, is brilliant in its simplicity. Think about it, even if teams start to key on it, it’ll open up a bank pass, outside rush for the wing on that side.
