The Bruins kept on rolling last week with three more wins that extended their winning streak to eight games.
They’ll put that streak on the line tonight in Montreal, but for now we can still celebrate their accomplishments of the previous seven days.
There are plenty of candidates for Bruin of the Week, but I narrowed the field down to three players who made offensive contributions despite a role that doesn’t demand scoring out of them.
Gregory Campbell has had a solid year, and last week he put some points on the sheet as well. The veteran center recorded three assists in three games, including two assists in the win over New Jersey. He was plus-4 and won 19 of 31 faceoffs. Against the New York Islanders, he won 12 of 14 draws.
With his first three-point game with the Bruins, Chris Kelly led the way past the Isles. He recorded two goals and one assist in that win to run his week’s total to 3-1-4 with a plus-5 rating. He also won 16 of 28 faceoffs.
While helping to shut down Columbus sniper Rick Nash and Isles speedster John Tavares, Zdeno Chara still managed to put some points on the sheet. The star defenseman recorded an assist against the Devils and scored a goal against the Isles. He was plus-3 on the week.
So I ask you readers of TheBruinsBlog.net:
