Tim Thomas is going to have to find new sources of motivation because the Rodney Dangerfield “no respect” aspect of his career is long over.
The two-time winner of the Vezina Trophy today received more accolades today, as the NHL named him its First Star of the month of November.
During November, Thomas went 9-0-0 with a .941 save percentage and 1.76 goals-against average. Thomas allowed two goals or fewer in five appearances, including three road shutouts: at Toronto, the New York Islanders and Montreal. He is just the fourth goaltender in NHL history to win all decisions in a calendar month with at least nine victories, joining Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils (9-0-0 in April 2006), Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers (10-0-0 in March 1975) and Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadiens (9-0-0 in December 1955).
On the season, Thomas is fifth in GAA with a 1.93 and third with a .936 save percentage in the league rankings.
