Two of the Bruins’ 2011 draft picks have been on fire seemingly since the first day of the 2011-12 season.
Both Dougie Hamilton and Brian Ferlin were rewarded for their efforts with grand recognition yesterday.
Hamilton was named the OHL Defenseman of the Month for November, while Ferlin won Hockey Commissioners Association National College Hockey Rookie of the Month honors.
Hamilton, picked No. 9 overall by Boston last June, has now won Defenseman of the Month twice in a row. The Niagara rear guard put up 4-11-15 totals and a plus-4 rating for the IceDogs in November. He’s currently riding a career-high 10-game point streak and has 11-30-41 totals in 26 games.
Ferlin, picked 121st overall (fourth round) in the same draft as Hamilton, has been tearing it up at Cornell. He leads the nation in rookie scoring with an average of 1.22 points per game.
