Thomas/By S. Bradley
Ho-hum. The Bruins went on the road to face the top team in the Eastern Conference tonight.
It was supposed to be a stiff test, but as usual the Bruins made short work of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They are now just one point back of the Pens for the conference lead.
The Bruins are now 14-0-1 in their last 15 games. Goaltender Tim Thomas, who made a season-high 43 saves, has won a career-best 10 games in a row. Since November 1, Thomas has a 1.70 goals-against average and .950 save percentage.
Now comes a true stiff test as the Bruins will have combat complacency when they visit Winnipeg Tuesday night.

I think that the difference with Pouliot is the fact that he was the toughest guy on Montreal and was expected to be the one to enforce on the ice. Now he knows he has a team that sticks up for themselves and each other and I think he is feeling more and more comfortable each game. He has a lot of talent and Julien is doing a wonderful job bringing it out.
If this is the Krejci we get for three years than 5.25 million is beyond reasonable. The matrix- not only creating more offense for his team than Crosby did in last nights matchup, but he actually beat Crosby at his best assets. He outworked 87, won the battles, and came out with the puck. Hit two posts on beautiful end to end dangles.
And Pouliout has been showing exactly what iv teen trying to tell y’all. He gets his stick on the puck, works hard, plays on the edge, and is learning the bruins system. I just can’t complain about a cap hit as small as his if we get a player who brings his skill upside.
The non-fighting battle between Krejci and Crosby was pretty cool.
4 goals and 3 are GWG for Pouliot…let’s hope he keeps taking advantage of his opportunity.
Pouliot’s gotta a good shot, lookout if that guy starts scoring with regularity…….
Great win!
I knew my boy Pouliot would start winning some support!
Contrary to popular belief, he hasn’t been bad.
I think he’s gonna be valuable on that 3rd line. They are really showing some chemistry.
I’m more worried about tired legs than complacency tonight against the Jets. it was a tough, physically demanding game last night that the B’s executed to perfection.
While watching the last 0 minutes of the 3d last night, the team looked like they had an eye on Winnipeg already and even though they didn’t phone it in, they definitely looked like they were conserving some energy they knew they’d need tomorrow. I think it was a smart thing to do.
I’ve been a Timmy Thomas fan since his first game in a B’s uniform and I couldn’t be prouder.
Last year I wanted to fire Julien during the December lull and again during the TB series. Pass the salt and Ketchup, I have a hat to eat! they just show up, do their thing, regardless of who’s dressed in front of them and for the last 15 games, no one’s had a good answer for it.
I thought the Pens were going to be the first team to really beat them. not so. who, then, will knock that grin off Thomas’ face ?
This is a tough week. A very tough week. Good start.
Gotta assume Rask tonight
I am on the verge of eating crow with Pouliot
How good is that match-up going to be when the Pens get their full complement of rearguards back?
Peverley’s pick at center ice and Pouliot’s twisted wrister shortside shelf was awesome! I haven’t been Pouliot’s biggest fan here, but he put that home with authority. It was good to see and you can tell he’s starting to feel it. I hope he continues to make me eat my hat.
Killing two 5-on-3′s was just as exciting as that tally, IMO.
The team that is a consistent defensive and neutral zone juggernaut continues to be as such, and they’re consistently putting pucks in the back of the net. What more could anyone want?
Wow this team is so talented end of story.
Damn – This team is really good right now. Mr. Chiarelli take a bow… even Pouliot is starting to make him look smart.
“Now comes a true stiff test as the Bruins will have combat complacency when they visit Winnipeg Tuesday night.” – exactly what I was thinking. Don’t forget our new conference rival the Panthers on Thursday who have played really well so far.
