Seguin/By D. Hickling
BOSTON — As far as we know, Tyler Seguin did not oversleep today.
He took the morning skate with the Bruins at the TD Garden and head coach Claude Julien confirmed his team’s leading scorer would return to the lineup tonight against the Florida Panthers.
Seguin was a healthy scratch Tuesday night in Winnipeg, where the Bruins lost, 2-1. He missed a team breakfast/meeting and was punished for that. He claimed to have overslept because he set his alarm wrong. There are holes in the story, but that’s what we know.
Here’s my column from CBSBoston.com on the matter.
Today after the skate, Seguin limited his comments on the matter to one line. After that a team PR staffer forbid questions on the topic. But rookie Jordan Caron, who was Seguin’s roommate Monday night in Winnipeg and lives with Seguin in Charlestown, did touch on the subject.
“It’s an accident and nobody wants to see that happen and I don’t think it will happen again,” said Caron, who noted that he tried calling Seguin when it was apparent he would be late.
With Seguin in tow, the Bruins are at full strength again and they’ll need all their weapons against the surprising Panthers, who are just one point back of Boston for second in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Dineen has taken over the Panthers and ushered in the turnaround.

It’s not about being a seguinista, i agree he did a dumb thing and is showing immaturity. But please, Kalman has always had this issue where he never misses a chance to take a shot at this dude. Equating him to your 14 month old kid was childish and insulting.
@David, Kaberle-istas or Seguin-istas, which would you prefer?
I didn’t like the article. I thought it was more personal than professional. I agree with Big Jim and Greg and I’m done with this blog. I’m sure Big Jim doesn’t mind anyways.
Guys,
yes there has been a lot of speculation on this incident within the media. The fact that Chia and the Bench Boss publicly admitted that this was not an isolated incident is enough to provoke media attention. Stop taking shots at Matt Kalman, realize that he gives Seguin credit when he deserves it, and GO B’S!
Maybe it’s because I haven’t read any twitter posts or anything, but it seems like there is a significant overreaction here. And the Seguinistas are back again
That CBS Boston post is a disgrace. Someone needs to teach Kalman how metaphors and analogies work. What a joke.
Greg is absolutely right; kalman has never missed an opportunity to take a shot at this dude.
Way too much drama over this. The gravity attributed to the transgression in this article goes overboard. The language/tone is too sensational at points, the analogy with the 14 month old baby is quite poor, and frankly, a little insulting.
I love how the coach – who Kalman praises all the way through the article (and rightfully so) – clearly states in the included NHL.com link that the media is “…trying to make a bigger story out of this than it is. He’s missed a game, he’s paid his dues. It’s a 19-year-old that is fine with us, he’s a good professional, and that’s it. Page turned and we move on.”
@PatrickD, Good one.
I just looked at the schedule
Some intense games happening in the EC tonight. B’s/Panthers, habs/Nucks, Sens/Devils, Bolts/Rangers and the always entertaining Pens/Flyers, minus Crosby. Giroux is having some year, so far.
Yes, apparently the Bruins are playing some sort of hockey related match this very evening.
WOW, the alarm clock on this incident hasn’t gone off. Any Hockey News today?
Seguin deserved to be hammered on this, IMO
Sometimes its just the facts that are hammering him
MAtt you love HAMMERING this kid.You did it all last year.Whats up with that?
