BOSTON — As far as we know, Tyler Seguin did not oversleep today.
He took the morning skate with the Bruins at the TD Garden and head coach Claude Julien confirmed his team’s leading scorer would return to the lineup tonight against the Florida Panthers.
Seguin was a healthy scratch Tuesday night in Winnipeg, where the Bruins lost, 2-1. He missed a team breakfast/meeting and was punished for that. He claimed to have overslept because he set his alarm wrong. There are holes in the story, but that’s what we know.
Here’s my column from CBSBoston.com on the matter.
Today after the skate, Seguin limited his comments on the matter to one line. After that a team PR staffer forbid questions on the topic. But rookie Jordan Caron, who was Seguin’s roommate Monday night in Winnipeg and lives with Seguin in Charlestown, did touch on the subject.
“It’s an accident and nobody wants to see that happen and I don’t think it will happen again,” said Caron, who noted that he tried calling Seguin when it was apparent he would be late.
With Seguin in tow, the Bruins are at full strength again and they’ll need all their weapons against the surprising Panthers, who are just one point back of Boston for second in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Dineen has taken over the Panthers and ushered in the turnaround.
