Corvo carries Bruins to win, Chara exits in 2nd period

Chara/By S. Bradley
Without Zdeno Chara for the third period tonight, the Bruins had to dodge a bullet.
They used all their grit and some great relief goaltending from Tuukka Rask to get by the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road.
Chara left the game and did not return after there was about six minutes left in the second period. NESN replays showed a collision with Columbus forward Antoine Vermette that seemed to bend the defenseman’s knee the wrong way. After the game, Bruins head coach Claude Julien told NESN it was a lower-body injury and Chara was still being evaluated.
Joe Corvo scored his first two goals with the Bruins, including the game-winner, in a 5-3 victory that snapped Boston’s losing streak at two games. The Bruins were 3-for-6 on the power play and Rask stopped 11 of 11 shots in the third period.
Tim Thomas departed after two periods — the first time he was pulled since a 5-2 loss at Toronto last March 19. He allowed three goals on 25 shots. Julien said he didn’t think Thomas looked comfortable through the first 40 minutes.
Milan Lucic recorded three assists, while linemate David Krejci picked up two assists.
uh, nick, correct me if i’m wrong, but i didn’t wish anyone injured. i think we and the jackets on saturday had guys injured. both could have been worse, but thankfully weren’t. as well, i don’t believe that saying one guy is a fluke and another one of our guys is better is enough to warrant calling 911. if you do, however, call, please post the call to this blog so we can hear them laugh at you for your insanity!
I just called 911 for all this Bruins harassment. I’m demanding an investigation.
JPT/TBH, go whine in the Habs blogs if your going to bring absolute crap like that. Maybe your local authorities up there have some blogs you can troll around in to. We usually like to go back and forth with some good competitive stuff but no one needs to wish injuries on people. That’s like saying we hope you cut your arms off with a circular saw if your a carpenter. This is the career for most of these players, not some Saturday afternoon flag football game with friends.
On a side note, I love that they showed the stat Sat night before Corvo scored his first that he was like 0/60 in goals/shots and was third on the team or something like that. Then decides to pop in 2.
when we exit the playoffs in the second round, don’t blame me. i’ll be here for you all to say i told you so. tim’s brown hole just can’t handle all the pressure. fluke? yes!
Kampfer will get another shot to play L-defense. Maybe the B’s could try Bartkowski there, its his natural position?
Bojangles
Looks like your right, I was giving JPT the benefit of the doubt.
JPT
Its fine for you to be on here to tease/jeer us when we lose, or to criticize the officiating or league office when they see a situation differently than you do, with your Hab sunglasses. But to cheer when someone is hurt, you do cross the line. This reminds me of the fans that beat up opposing fans, when they attend sporting events in their home ballparks/courts/or hockey rinks. Your comments regarding Chara were classless. Getting joy from your opponents injuries, is no recipe for winning, only indicative how low you have sunk. The idea is to beat your opponents by drafting better, coaching better, training better, and preparing better. It appears your Habs are getting failing grades in all of the above.
B16 – Momentary Lapse?! Are kidding me? JPT has been a brown hole since the day he learned to type.
Take a hike Tremblay. Here’s hopin’ you sit n a rusty nail.
Sensitive bunch today. Where was all of this sensitivity and outrage when poor Miller was purposely hurt by Lucic. At least Vermette hurting Chara was clearly an accident but I am still awaiting to see how many game Shanahan is going to suspend Vermette for.
Maybe the Bruins are not as tough as they thought. Joe Vitale slapping Campbell around, Paille getting the bell rung by Barch and now Chara getting his spaghetti leg hurt by Vermette. The bully is being bullied.
RJ Umberger must have had nightmares last night after TT’s cross crease glove save with the score knotted at 3. Even when he’s a “bit” off his game, TT makes great saves.
Great to see Corvo get 2 goals, now it’s Seidenberg’s turn to pot a couple.
TBH should drop the “T” from his login name, then he’d have an appropriate moniker.
jpt is still sore at corvo for beating him up all those years ago.
The other d-men stepped up! I think last year this would have been more serious, but Boychuk has stepped up his play. As well, Sidenberg’s play was good last year, but I can’t remember more than two turnovers he has had all this year.
Tim’s Brown Hole
You must have missed last year’s playoffs. Only you and Roberto Luongo reflect this attitude towards Thomas’ play last year. Not only did Thomas win the Conn Smythe, but he also won the Vezina! Fluke?
McTeagle
Your right the word is ridiculous, or maybe even ludicrous regarding some of comments last night and this morning on this blog.
WTH. Some of the comments today are as ridiculous as parts of that game got. And as idiotic as some of Lucic’s play. Reminded me of that game against Carolina earlier this year, only this time the B’s didn’t implode before they pulled it together.
Hopefully we don’t have to find out what happens when Chara’s gone for an extended period. To me, he’s the single most important person on that team.
That was a bizzare hockey game for sure. Looch you want to kill him then love him. Nice work Corvo given the uncertainty of the future of Z you playing with confidence is huge if we can find a silver lining. i can’t figure out Claude’s angle with Marchand but he must have one. Nice third tuk you were very prepared. Wishing big Z the best you could see poor Gord’s expression on the wrap up show and the horrors he dealt with. Nothing more than to wait and see what the doc’s say about Z. last we are the Cup champions and we won because we use four lines and three sets of D which other teams do not. in an 80 plus game schedule injuries and issues will arrise but this team works as a single unit with one goal in mind to the non believers keep following us you will see.
JPT,
You just showed that you are not blogging here to discuss hockey matters and present legitimate arguments based on reasoning. You clearly only care about annoying Bruins fans and disrespecting any shreds of Bruin failures that happen to exit; however few they may be. Your comment about charas is intolerable and you did not prove any point whatsoever. You are making the respectable members of your fan base like RD have a harder time getting through to people.
Shame this blog is going downhill.
JPT
You are way out of line by getting enjoyment out of seeing Chara leg’s buckle. Bruin fans do NOT wish any bad luck on any of the Hab players/fans, but we sure like to beat you. I would hope that Hab fans would do the same. At one time, this summer, someone wrote a stupid blog that was discriminatory to you. I asked Matt to remove it. I think you should ask Matt to remove the one you just put up. We will view this blog as a momentary lapse.
JPT,
There are certain things that you say that are tolerable and this is not one of them. I know you don’t like Chara, but reveling in a serious injury like that (for any player) shows your true colors. Keep those crappy ill-advised feelings to yourself and go see a psychiatrist. I know you enjoy clubbing seals and therefore the appearance of pain, but we don’t relish in any of the apparent injuries your players get for their look of pain, so don’t do it for ours.
Gotta admit, enjoyed seeing Chara’s leg buckle like that. Vermette is now one of my favorite players in the NHL. Go right to Dr. Recchi and see what he thinks about the leg Zdummy.
you guys are idiots! i am the brown hole of tim thomas! and unfortunately i am a bruins fan like you guys. we ‘fluked’ one out tonight because we pulled thomas!
Can’t win but won the Stanley Cup. 8 goals against In 7 games of the finals, yep that’s a fluke alright. What a troll.
….whatsamatter TIM…your team couldn’t ‘fluke’ one?…crybaby….
i told everyone that it is because thomas is a big baby that he can’t win. the stanley cup year was a fluke. the only reason we won tonight was because they pulled thomas and his brown hole from the game!
