It appears one of the Bruins’ top prospects won’t get a chance to shine on junior hockey’s biggest stage this winter.
Forward Ryan Spooner has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and will not be attending Hockey Canada’s World Junior Championship evaluation camp.

In 27 games for Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League this season, Spooner has posted 14-18-32 totals. The 2010 second-round pick should the the subject of trade rumors as the OHL deadline approaches. Last season, he was dealt to Kingston from Peterborough.
Spooner will also be a candidate to sign a ATO with Providence (AHL) in the spring when/if his season ends in time.
