You vote: Bruin of the Week

Just when you thought the only concern you’d have about the Bruins when this week ended was about their 2-2-0 record in four games, along came Zdeno Chara’s injury.

The Boston Globe is reporting that Chara’s “leg injury” will keep him out at least a week, which if true has to be positive news considering the fears he might be out long-term.

Meanwhile, the Bruins pulled out a win without him in the third period in Columbus to snap a two-game losing streak and finish a .500 week. There weren’t many great individual performances that lasted all week, but here are four worthy candidates for this week’s Bruin of the Week honor:

Center Gregory Campbell got the Bruins going offensively with a goal in Pittsburgh. He also stood up for Tim Thomas by fighting Joe Vitale and posted a plus-1 rating in that game. He notched an assist on the Bruins’ lone goal in Winnipeg and for the week he won 15 of 23 faceoffs.

Joe Corvo salvaged what could’ve been a disastrous week. Without a goal on his ledger for the season before the Columbus game and minus-3 through three games last week, Corvo awoke with two goals, including the game-winner, against the Blue Jackets. He was plus-1 in Columbus and fired eight shots on goal total in four games.

It took a while for Milan Lucic to get on the score sheet last week, but he did so in a big way with three primary assists in Columbus. He also took eight PIM against the Blue Jackets, but for the week he fired 10 shots on goal and was credited with 13 hits.

Tuukka Rask might’ve had a weird week in goal, but he saved the day in Columbus with a perfect 11-save performance in the third period to earn the victory. In his only start of the week Rask stopped 33 of 35 shots to post a .957 save percentage for the week.

So I ask you readers of TheBruinsBlog.net:
