The wins just keep on piling up for the Bruins.
With their 3-0-0 week, they have now won 18 of their last 21 and earned at least a point in 19 of those games. Along with the victories comes plenty of candidates for Bruin of the Week. And this week there were plenty of candidates.
After watching Tuukka Rask blank Los Angeles Tuesday, Tim Thomas took back the crease and made the most of his opportunities in victories over Ottawa and Philadelphia. He stopped 78 of 80 shots (.975 save percentage) in the two games, including a shutout of the Flyers.
It seems that Rich Peverley does everything quietly, and he heated up this week somewhat under the radar. For the week he put up 2-4-6 totals and a plus-4 rating while attempting just four shots in the three games. His goal against Los Angeles was the game-winner.
Daniel Paille, meanwhile, continued to prove the Bruins are a four-line threat. Paille scored three goals over the final two games of the wek and was plus-3. He fired six shots on goal.
The Bruins needed more than one player on defense to step up on the back end while Zdeno Chara was out. Joe Corvo was one of those guys, and he kept doing it even after Chara’s return. For the week he posted three assists and a plus-5 rating. He attempted five shots on goal in the three games.
So I ask you readers of TheBruinsBlog.net:

I haven’t been to the new building but when I was at Concordia I didn’t miss a Bruins game at the old forum. Standing room tickets were $5 if I remember. I hear there is no more SR in the new building. Such a shame. It was so much fun getting there early and getting a spot “on the rail”. And then spending the next 3 hours defending it with one had while protecting your “biere froid” with the other.
PatrickD, that is frustrating.
You can get the TSN 990 radio broadcast on the web at least. It’s not much but it’s something if you’re really motivated.
btw, you’re right. The bruins do have speed too which makes the task very daunting tonight. On the plus side, Kaberle has been producing some points:)
Don’t give me too much credit. I’ve been douchy on occasions.
I think habs fans that you see on TV are an obnoxious lot because of who you have to be to actually get tickets. Scalpers charge hundreds of dollars to see the islanders for crying out lous. So the people you see in the stands are a combination of frosty nosed execs and petulant spoiled brats. There are a few regular fans in the stands but the cameras tend to avoid them.
RD, you are a credit to Habs Nation. No name calling or any nonsense. Just a guy who understands the game and wants to see it played at the highest level possible. I know from living in Montreal that you are in fact a good representation of most Habs fans. Sadly its the unbalanced fans (Bruins included)that have the most to say and usually at the loudest volume. And to that end may the Bruins show a little more speed tonight…keep the brawn but move their feet. I sadly live on the east coast of Canada where our local digital cable provider doesn’t carry the TSN alternate feed so all the Habs/Bruins games are blacked out. And I would have to buy the entire french language package just to get RDS. So frustrating.
Big game tonight…not under the circumstances I’d like with the Bruins being nearly invincible but you always gotta root for your team. May speed beat brawn!
Hamill has been solid. I’d say he’s taken Caron’s spot. Like to see him get his first goal. He deserves it for his hard work.
throw paille up with krejci and horton if looch gets suspended.
kelly’s heroes line is downright nasty right now.
Maybe not player of the week, but guy who surprised me the most this week was Hamill. Surpassed expectations by a good amount.
To the voters, have a chuckle about: The Universe, light sabers, “The Goal”, dives, and catches.

Paille. It’s when he scores goals, the skill set he brings although not majorly offensive is great. He goes 110% every time he hits the ice whether its the last minute of the period, a PK, first shift of the night or catching flying hugs from Zach Hamill. 4th line love!
Paille although quite honestly it could be anyone who put on the uniform. Paille comming back from facial issues and semi concussion symptoms with Campbell down was huge for the club. I keep saying it but this is a special time in Bruins history keep rolling.
