Poll result: Paille pops in three goals, earns Bruin of the Week

Paille/By S. Bradley

Any accolades that flow the way of the Bruins’ fourth line players are always rare and well-deserved.

So it’s with great pride that I reveal that readers of TheBruinsBlog.net this weekend voted Daniel Paille as the Bruin of the Week.

Who should be the Bruin of the Week?

  • Daniel Paille (37%, 56 Votes)
  • Rich Peverley (31%, 47 Votes)
  • Tim Thomas (26%, 40 Votes)

Paille scored three goals last week and posted a plus-3 rating, as he continued to get his game on track after suffering a mild concussion against Florida December 8. It’s been a wild season thus far for Paille, who also suffered a broken nose after taking a shot to the face earlier this year. But Paille would rather be playing every night and dealing with ailments than sitting as a healthy scratch the way he was for much of the start of last season.

He now has six goals on the year after scoring just five last season. He likely won’t match his career-high of 19 set back in 2007-08 with Buffalo. But he’s well on his way to a double-digit goal season, which Boston is used to getting from its fourth-liners. Last season both Gregory Campbell and Shawn Thornton surpassed 10 goals.

When you talk about the Bruins’ depth, the offensive output of their fourth line is Exhibit A to prove how tough they are to top in that department.
