The disappointing loss to Vancouver aside, the Bruins still had a productive week last week.
They blew away New Jersey & Calgary by a combined score of 15-1. Had they exercised a little more discipline against the Canucks, the Bruins could be looking at another mini winning streak.

BOSTON — The Bruins had the morning off today after beating New Jersey, 6-1, last night on the road.
But that didn’t mean they couldn’t make some news. The NHL announced that Tim Thomas was among the six starters named to the 2012 All-Star Game in Ottawa, as selected by online fan voting.
Coming off a loss in their last game on New Year’s Eve in Dallas, the Bruins started tonight’s game in New Jersey by handing the Devils a power play on an unforced Johnny Boychuk delay-of-game penalty and then surrendering a man-advantage goal.
And that, folks, is what qualifies as a Bruins slump these days.

Team Canada was relegated to the bronze medal game after a semifinal loss to Russia last night at the 2012 World Junior Championship.
While that’s a bit of a disappointment, several of the top NHL prospects who were wearing the maple leaf this week impressed scouts. Among those that stood out were Bruins prospect Dougie Hamilton.

Jordan Caron joined the team on the Ristuccia Arena ice after he was recalled from the Providence (AHL) farm club.
Despite goals by Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin, and a 9-6 shots advantage in the third period, the Bruins weren’t able to rally out of a three-goal hole Saturday night in Dallas.
Boston’s 4-2 loss to the Stars snapped their seven-game winning streak.
