Chara/By S. Bradley
WILMINGTON, Mass. — After taking Monday off to bask in the glory of their Sunday win over Washington, the Bruins practiced today at Ristuccia Arena.
Zdeno Chara was the only player missing from the festivities.
Head coach Claude Julien said he gave Chara the day off because the captain has been run ragged the last several weeks, including during the All-Star break.
The lines stayed in the same formation from the win over the Capitals, including Chris Kelly centering the first line between Milan Lucic and Rich Peverley.
Julien did not provide an update on Nathan Horton beyond the fact that the forward skated on his own over the weekend. Julien says he won’t update on the winger’s concussion problems until the player takes the ice with the team for a practice.

Bruins need to put Chara & Seidenberg back together. They split them up early this year and team struggled, paired them up and went on huge win streak. Split them up and team slumping. Seems simple enough, that’s how they won the cup for crissakes!
I was missing the daily updates of this blog before but I am now housebound with a broken ankle (in 3 places… while coaching my son`s novice team…) so Please come back more often Matt…
Who cares who is a #1 center? Seriously who cares? If you wanna go by stereotypes then we have zero #1 centers, 3 #2′s, 2 #3′s a #4 and zero #1 wingers. But we won the cup, sooooooo…who cares.
B 16 I’ll give you he was on his game against the caps. But the two prior games he did not exist. I think he is so propped up by media that he thinks his game is fine I just think he has another gear that seldom shows up in the regular season. If he just would get more consistant shift in and out belive me I would be right on board.
Bruins 16,
Timing, man timing.
Krecji in my book is an above average second line center whose greatest value is with players who play a game like Lucic and Horton. That line does have incredible chemistry when they are all going and are definitely worth more than the sum of their parts because of how well their games compliment each other, but I can’t say I really want any of those players on my top line in the absence of the others for various reasons. Together, they’re a reasonable top line at full health but certainly not a big 3 or anything like what Bergeron’s line is threatening to become. They are currently our best offensive and defensive line and I believe they typically spend more time on the ice than any other line. Is there anything else a top line should do that they don’t?
Good to see that most of us have finally recognized that value/skill of Patrice Bergeron.
Terry
Your right about the three stars, but I think you should give the nod to at least Thomas and maybe even Lucic. Lucic has been more consistent the last couple of weeks, and his presence on the fore-check is awesome some nights. I thought Thomas should have gone to the White House, but you can’t deny him his skills and value to the team.
Joe
I did go on this website and state that Bergy was the number one centre on the B’s. I had numerous comments from Matt K. and others not agreeing with me. Now, I rest my case.
joe,
correction, he is now an overpaid third line center. the bruins media has spent the last few years trying to convince the world this guy is some sort of phenom.
when did anyone call krejci a “star”? must have missed that. he’s a really good 2nd line center. and also led the team in playoff points. bruins are lucky to have him – imagine derek roy as your #1 center…awful.
Yeah, Krejci’s regular seasons have left us all wanting, but the kid produces in the post-season and I’ll take that over a great reg. season any day…
Besides Charra, Bergy, Seguin, thomas there are no stars just a great team concept. If Seguin ice time continues to grow like some of the major stars in the league look out he will be deadly. Last game he got a lot more ice time and was flying. Horton was really key that line with Krej and snow shoes because those two could carry the puck into the zone and let I try hard two shifts a game catch up. I hate bashing Looch he is tough, great balance and people bounce off of him, but day in and out you just don’t know what you will get out of him he must drive Cam, and Claude insane cause I just think he has more to offer, or maybee should be offered.
good point. who really thinks that is the first line any more?
Are we still in denial about Bergeron centering the top line?
wow the big star, big money, krejci relegated to third line duty. are we still trying to talk ourselves into this idea that krejci is some sort of star?
