The Bruins Sunday announced they have assigned forward Josh Hennessy and Andrew Bodnarchuk back to the Providence (AHL) farm club.
While Bodnarchuk didn’t get into a game during the Bruins’ 3-2-1 road trip, Hennessy skated in three games and was a plus-1. His heavy forecheck against the Senators Saturday night played a huge part in Carter Camper scoring his first career NHL goal.
So for the time being it looks like Camper has earned a spot on the NHL squad.
The Bruins, who did not practice Sunday, now have 13 healthy forwards in addition to injured wingers Nathan Horton and Rich Peverely on their roster. They have just six healthy defensemen. The trade deadline is 3 p.m. Monday. For more on that, check out my CBSBoston.com column.
In other news, the NHL had a disciplinary hearing via telephone with Ottawa forward Kyle Turris about his hit to the head of Boston’s Joe Corvo. Corvo was rattled but returned to the game. As first reported by the Twitter feed of Sportsnet reporter Ian Mendes, Turris will not face suspension and will play for the Senators tonight against the New York Islanders. The Sens will be in Boston Tuesday night.
Here’s another look at Turris’ hit courtesy of NESN.com.
And here’s NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan’s explanation post-hearing:
“Because there was enough head contact on this hit, the Department of Player Safety felt it was necessary to convene a hearing to examine the play further. After reviewing the video extensively as we heard Turris’ explanation of how the play developed, we concluded that the head was not targeted intentionally or even recklessly and that the circumstances surrounding the hit contributed significantly to the amount of head contact that resulted.
“We therefore have decided that there will be no supplemental discipline added to the penalty assessed on the play.”

Matt
I live on the other side of the continent, but I do know of an ardent Bruin fan who is taking journalism. I’ll see if they are interested. It would probably easier, for you, if the person was located in the New England region.
Your blog is good and you have a good following of contributors/bloggers. Maybe what you need is a marketing student who can get some advertising revenue, and then you can maybe hire someone part-time. Maybe the B’s or a sporting store would pay for some advertising of merchandise, on your blog.
I’m with you MCK!
OK, Ben. Now I remember.
If you put flat line, people that are new, or even regulars, might think that you know the site is officially dead. It’s not dead, just not getting my full-time attention.
For those of you suggesting I “hire” someone, if you can find someone that can produce the same caliber work I usually do and do it for free (or college credit), send him or her my way. Same for a photographer.

I never once insulted or ridiculed you. I made a comment on how dead the site was last week. One word that was it. I am sorry if that was seen as an insult. I enjoy your articles and the comments of all. At the time of my comment there had been zero activity for nearly 3 days. I said flatline. Thats it. Not much of an insult or ridicule. I understand, accept and acknowledge the fact that you need to make money. Maybe you can just post the link to your article on whatever paid site and allow the comments here. Once again I apologize if that word made you angry or hurt it was not my intent. Looking forward to enjoying many more articles and years of The Bruins Blog.
Ben-
If you’re going to insult me & ridicule me I have a right to delete the comments.

Pierre-
You hit it on the head. I’ve got to devote my time to where I get paid. Appreciate your & everyone’s loyalty to this blog, but obviously working for free for 3 years wasn’t the best thing for my life.

I just miss the blog from last season. That was a great hockey forum. This blog now seems like back burner stuff. Oh well.
Bo- did you miss the above link to MK’s story on CBSBoston.com?
Count me as another disappointed fan of this blog.
But, I try to avoid feeling entitled and indignant about a declining service for which I do not pay.
I don’t get it. Nothing – Nothing on the dead-line? Matt, you still writing? Just NHL.com or elsewhere? I’d like to read what you got.
Turris needs to be suspended! He left his feet. I have defended Shanahan in the past, but he doesn’t suspend Turris he is being inconsistent.
Matt
Ben is right. Your blog has been far better than any other blogs regarding the Bruins. Most contributors can put together a paragraph, and have something interesting/factual to contribute. As well, most bloggers can see more of the whole picture in comparison to other chat sites. If your too busy, find some journalist student, who has a passion for the B’s, and hire him. Another possibility could be someone from Providence, or someone who has a good handle on what our draft picks are doing. The negative comments are fair, with a desire to keep articles coming.
Matt why the removal of comments on the last blog? They followed your guidelines. We are just concerned followers of your once awesome blog and stated that we have no where else to go and that this blog is not updated regularly enough for most of the die hard fans. We love your work and understand your need to earn a living but to delete comments of your followers who were well within YOUR guidelines is in bad form. It is a sad day.
I’ve liked Camper’s game so far. He doesn’t play a lot, but always seems to be skating hard. I’ve also been very impressed with his faceoffs. As for the non suspension. I am not happy about that. Turris clearly left his feet, but even if he didn’t, it was a blindside hit where the only point of contact was the head.
