WILMINGTON, Mass. — After the Bruins practiced at Ristuccia Arena today, head coach Claude Julien confirmed that defenseman Johnny Boychuk had skated on his own prior to the full squad taking the ice.

Boychuk hadn’t skated since Chris Neil’s hit in Ottawa Saturday knocked the blueliner out of the game in the the third period. Julien sounded cautiously optimistic for Boychuk’s return in the near future, although we all know how unpredictable head injuries can be.

Whether Boychuk suffered a concussion or not, Julien said the Bruins are treating the veteran as though he did.
