BOSTON — David Krejci’s overtime game-winner capped his second NHL hat trick tonight in the Bruins’ 4-3 win over New Jersey at the TD Garden.
However, Boston played the third period without veteran defenseman Andrew Ference.
After the game, head coach Claude Julien revealed Ference suffered a lower-body injury. Julien said the training staff didn’t want Ference to push it and that there would be more news on the blueliner’s status Friday. If Ference can’t play over the weekend, the Bruins have Mike Mottau, who was a healthy scratch against the Devils, available. Johnny Boychuk also might be ready to return from a concussion this weekend.
Krejci, who centered Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic for the first time this season, combined for seven points with his linemates. After scoring just two goals in February, he started March with three goals to run his season’s total to 16.
