Ference/By S. Bradley
BOSTON — David Krejci’s overtime game-winner capped his second NHL hat trick tonight in the Bruins’ 4-3 win over New Jersey at the TD Garden.
However, Boston played the third period without veteran defenseman Andrew Ference.
After the game, head coach Claude Julien revealed Ference suffered a lower-body injury. Julien said the training staff didn’t want Ference to push it and that there would be more news on the blueliner’s status Friday. If Ference can’t play over the weekend, the Bruins have Mike Mottau, who was a healthy scratch against the Devils, available. Johnny Boychuk also might be ready to return from a concussion this weekend.
Krejci, who centered Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic for the first time this season, combined for seven points with his linemates. After scoring just two goals in February, he started March with three goals to run his season’s total to 16.

I really liked Rolston the first time he was here, but man has age caught up to him.
Corvo sits. He has more chances than any player to establish himself as a Bruin. The only one that looks like a good pick-up is Zanon.
It is just interesting to think about. It isn’t that difficult of a transition for him, considering he plays like he is a winger anyways.
I am just trying to think of ways to put pucks in the net, which they could not do to save their lives in February
I guess I forgot to mention Rolston sits too…his tired old back could use a break probably.
MCK, I am not going to jump on your idea whole heartedly just yet but I am not opposed to some radical thinking. And yes Dan I have played and coached hockey for more than 35 years…When Peverley comes back and assuming Horton is done for the time being, Claude if he wanted to experiment a little could try to slot Corvo in on the 3rd line maybe…He couldn’t be less effective than Caron. So we end up with something like this…if last nights lines hold.
Lucic-Krecji-Seguin
Marchy-Bergy-Peverley
Corvo-Kelly-Pouliot
Paille-Campbell-Thornton
Seguin and Peverley could obviously switch lines as well. Defense is made up of Boychuck, Chara, Seidenberg, McQuaid, Ference and Zanon.
Mottau and Caron sit.
Now if Horton comes back Corvo joins the boys in the press box without question.
So let the sniping begin…and I am expecting some real venomous stuff from you BigJIm…don’t let me down.
Someone explain to me where Corvo fits in when Boychuck and Ference are healthy. He is the 7th best defenseman at that point, maybe 8th if you are looking at defense alone.
Chara-Boychuk
Seids-Zannon
Ference-McQuaid
Mottau-Corvo
Do we really think that Corvo is just going to be a scratch?
Good victory. Big Jim I burned my Corvo shirt he lost his only fan. MCK right on minus the Corvo plan. Where are the supposed wheels on this 39 year old rolston he’s a spare part give Caron his ice time. Great changing of the lines now Krejic don’t let this go to your head it was only one game you are not an allstar now continue this play.
I don’t feel the need to describe whether or not I played or play hockey.
Say what you want. He can’t play defense on this team in the playoffs. He is brutal in his own end with the puck. That play he made last night is yet another example. He doesnt stupid stuff like that a lot. Too much.
My guess is he is a better forward now than Pouliot, Caron and Rolston, all of whom are simply warm bodies at this point.
Why can’t he play forward? Explain that to me genius? I will accept your apology when he ends up there when Boychuck and Ference are both healthy. He either gets scratched with Mottau or he plays forward. I think he has too much offensive ability to sit. I just don’t want him anywhere near a blueline, unless he is covering the point as a forward in the defensive end.
corvo at forward? are you out of your mind?
some of the people who reply here never played hockey in their life. Or just don’t think.
My initial impression on the new guys
-Rolston is just north of useless
-Zanon is immediately one of our better defenseman. From the one game, he is better defensively than all but Chara and Seids. Great pickup.
-Mottau is better than Corvo as a defenseman, and comparable to McQuaid.
When Boychuck and AF are back (another injury!!!!!! ahhh), I put Corvo at forward. He is a TERRIBLE defenseman. Reminds me of Wideman in his own end. Top offensive skills, but he is good for one unbelievable turnover per game. Put him at forward. Bench one of Pouliot, Caron or Rolston, all of whom are currently passengers on this team.
I agree with you guys on Zanon. He seemed to be very solid in the defensive zone and his slapshot is better than most of the defensemen on the team. I’m hoping Red Light Rolston will gain fire!
Hoping for the best on AF, but once again Chia Pete’s deadline moves prove to be prophetic.
I agree 100% w/ John. Thought Zanon looked really good/stable in his own end and I was pretty impressed with how quick he gets puck to the net.
With his addition to the blue-line and Rolston filling in up front & possibly on the point on the PP, you have to think that when that back-end’s 100% healthy, Corvo is going to be the odd man out.
Can’t fault Timmy on either of the first two, but he’s gotta have the post on that third one.
Obviously liked what I saw from Krejci line, but let’s see if they can sustain it.
Too bad about Ference, I didnt notice anything watching live. On the bright side, I thought Zanon looked really good out there. Especially around the net he looked very conscientious. When all D are healthy I would much prefer him out there over Corvo.
