BOSTON — Bruins winger Benoit Pouliot took the warm-up in his usual spot on a line with Chris Kelly and Jordan Caron prior to today’s game against the Washington Capitals at the TD Garden.

But when the game’s rosters were made official, Pouliot was scratched and Boston dressed seven defensemen.

The Bruins announced during the game that Pouliot was out with a lower-body injury. Pouliot suffered a lower-body injury last Tuesday in Toronto in the second period. He missed the rest of the game and did not practice Wednesday. But he played Thursday night against Buffalo. The Bruins held an optional practice Friday and Pouliot did not skate.

A lineup with seven blueliners has been extremely rare during head coach Claude Julien’s tenure behind the Boston bench.
