BOSTON — Adam McQuaid and Johnny Boychuk will both be scratched today against Buffalo because of a head injury and a knee injury, respectively.
While head coach Claude Julien said he sees no reason why Boychuk would not be ready to start the playoffs with Boston next week, there are no similar assurances about McQuaid because of the type of injury the blueliner is battling.
Along with McQuaid and Boychuk, Torey Krug will be a scratch against the Sabres at TD Garden. Brian Rolston will be the only forward scratched, as Julien wants to give the veteran a rest.
Julien noted that Tuukka Rask continues to progress in his attempt to return from an abdominal/groin injury. But the goaltender’s status is still up in the air and there’s no definitive answer about his availability for the start of the playoffs.
