According to the official NHL draft order released by the league today, the Bruins will have five picks June 22-23 in Pittsburgh.
Their first pick is scheduled to be 24th overall in the first round.
The Bruins also own pick 85 (3rd round), 145 (fifth round), 175 (sixth round) and 205 (seventh round).
Their second-round pick went to Toronto as compensation for the Tomas Kaberle trade. It was conditional on the Bruins reaching the Stanley Cup Final. Boston’s fourth-round pick was sent to Carolina last summer for Joe Corvo.
I think Pearson will be a stud. He went undrafted twice and worked extremely hard and put up great OHL numbers. To me that sounds like a motivated player. Something that every team needs. Plus he obviously has scoring skill. I think he will be like Skinner is to Carolina. He’s 19, more mature, and stronger than most of the draft class.

Pouliot and Skjei sound like they might have some of the skills the Bs have been hunting for for a long time. Maybe better to draft a PMD and then train him appropriately than have to pick from older non-disciplined ‘defencemen’ as they’ve tried with Kaberle and Corvo.
Something tells me PC might trade a piece to move up 5 or 6 slots to get one of these D men – Sounds like a solid crew.
I really like the looks of Koekkoek and Pearson. I don’t know much about the Swede. That said I can see a race for the bottom for the last place teams this season as the first overall pick in 2013 is going to be a kid named Nate Mackinnon out of Halifax. Its pretty commonly held that if he was eligible this year he would go first overall. So PC needs to channel the same fortune teller spirit that pulled off the Kessel trade and figure out who that 30th place finisher is and wrestle that pick away. Am I asking too much?
Of course had the Kessel trade worked out different, TO fans would be thanking Chiarelli for Phil.
My point is that Burke is a respected hockey manager (yes the Kessel deal looks like a misfire) who was faced with an awful situation when he arrived. The Leafs five years ago were just a touch better than an expansion team.
Let’s hope there are no typos in this comment.
My biggest disappointments is not having our second and fourth round picks. If you check the B’s roster there are a number of players that were second round picks. Giving up any pick for Joe Corvo, is a mistake. Enough said!
I hope Burke wants to take a run of getting Thomas to play next year. It could mean another pick, cap space, and maybe a prospect. Wishful thinking!
You are quite the Yokester Yukester. Of course Burke is a great guy. He has been great to us so we should say kind words about him.
*meant “many” not “mean”*
“Dumb” Burkie has as mean Cup victories as Chiarelli, Shero of the Pens and Lombardi of the kings. “Dumb” Burke also acquired the Sedin twins and set the foundation for the talented (if Cup-starved) Canucks. Kessel deal is over and done, move on to new topics.
Whoever is picked in first round by Bruins needs to stick. Hammil and Caron haven’t worked.
There has got to be a way to convince that dummy Brian Burke to give us his first round pick again. How about Toronto’s first round pick (5th overall) for Paille. Burkie is soo dumb he would go for it.
With the 24th overall pick in the 2012 draft the Boston Bruins are proud to select Tanner Pearson of the Barrie Colts. That is all. (Tanner Pearson Barrie (OHL) 9/10/92 LW L 6’0/198 GP-61 G-37 A-54 Pts-91 +21 = NHL ready)
Pontus Aberg Djurgardens (SWE) 9/23/93 LW R 5’11/194 54 9 7 16 -3
Slater Koekkoek Peterborough (OHL) 2/18/94 D L 6’2/186 26 5 13 18 -7
These guys stats are not impressive. Koekkoek would be the best of the two since he got more points as a D than the LW Aberg got, in half the games!
Koekkoek Please. May have to go up a bit to get him.
Hoping that somehow Pontus Aberg can fall a few slots and we can land him in the 1st and Kevin Roy into the 3rd.
Please not Thomas Wilson. We’ve been linked to him way to many times.
Notable (infamous) 85th picks from past years:
Tom Sestito (2006) Blue Jackets
Interesting that in 2005 draft, Keith Yandle was taken 105th overall, one pick before the B’s selected Vlad Sobotka.
Notable 24th picks from past years:
Marcus Johansson (2009) Caps.
T.J. Oshie (2005) Blues.
Mike Richards (2003) Flyers.
Brad Boyes (2000) Laffs.
With the 24th overall pick The Boston Bruins are pleased to select Tanner Pearson of the Barrie Colts. (Tanner Pearson #42 Barrie (OHL) 9/10/92 LW L 6’0/198 GP-61 G-37 A-54 pts-91 +21 That is all.
