The Bruins’ archest enemies have often compared Boston’s style of play to that seen in the movie “Slap Shot.”
Now the Bruins might more resemble the fictional Chiefs after making a minor signing today.
The team announced it has signed center Christian Hanson to a two-way contract. Hanson is the son of Dave Hanson, who was one of the famed Hanson Brothers in the cult-classic Paul Newman flick. Hanson is signed for one year.
Prior to spending all of last season with Washington’s AHL affiliate in Hershey, Hanson skated in 42 NHL games over three seasons with Toronto. He has 3-6-9 NHL totals. Last season with the Bears, he posted 10-11-21 totals. Unfortunately, Hanson’s production isn’t boosted for emulating his dad’s character from the movies. The younger Hanson has never exceeded 57 total PIM in any professional season so far.
