bergeron_patrice_card-vsmtlBoth Bruinsgeneral manager Peter Chiarelli and coach Claude Julien were encouraged by the news that Patrice Bergeron has started working out eight days after he suffered the fourth concussion of his NHL career.

Chiarelli revealed the news during the Toucher and Rich Show on 98.5 The Sports Hub Wednesday morning.

“I’ve met with Patrice. He’s been working out. He’s on his road to recovery, so it looks good,” Chiarelli told the radio hosts.

It’s worth pointing out that while Bergeron missed just two games with his last concussion, that short absence was affected by the Bruins’ sweep of Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Bergeron went 13 games between games played.

Julien has been through his players’ head injuries enough to know that skating is a positive sign but it’s never worth getting too enthused until a player is completely clear of symptoms.

“You just keep your fingers crossed and keep hoping that he keeps getting better,” the coach said.
