Ference got away with one/By S. Bradley

Andrew Ference was caught by CBC cameras delivering a healthy elbow to the head of Toronto center Mikhail Grabovski during the Bruins’ 4-1 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Wednesday at TD Garden.

After the game, Ference pleaded ignorance about the play in question.

The hit was one of several that had media types questioning whether there would be supplemental discipline. Here’s the Ference hit:

And then Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said he thought Shawn Thornton left the bench to get into the scrum before the Chris Kelly-Leo Komarov fight. When the coach reviews the play, I think he’ll see Thornton and Daniel Paille executed a legal change. Here is, courtesy of hockeyfights.com:
