It was thought Bruins forward Milan Lucic might’ve been among the injured players that caused general manager Peter Chiarelli to make two emergency recalls Saturday before the game with the Montreal Canadiens.
As it turned out, Lucic skated a regular shift during the 2-0 defeat at TD Garden.
Lucic was clocked by Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Dalton Prout at the end of overtime Friday night. Lucic left the rink bleeding from the mouth before the shootout.
“Oh yeah. I’m fine,” Lucic said after the loss to Montreal.
As for what he thought of Prout hitting him before he could get his gloves off, Lucic said:
“I didn’t like it. I mean, good thing is, we get to play them two more times. So …” Lucic said before flashing a sheepish smirk.
The next Bruins Blue Jackets game is Dec. 27 in Columbus.
Lucic said he didn’t drop the gloves because of the timing.
“Yeah it’s the end of the game. I let him know that I wasn’t going to fight him so I wasn’t prepared and I let my guard down and that’s what happens sometimes when you let your guard down,” Lucic said. “I’ve been in over 100 fights and I never took a shot like that, so like I said we get two more opportunities to play the Blue Jackets and I’ll be ready.”
