You’ve heard about getting all dressed up but having no place to go.
Well, there are nights out on the ice when Shawn Thornton’s temper gets pushed over the edge, but he has no one to go – in a fight that is.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Although he eventually got onto the ice for his spin with the Stanley Cup in 2011, Nathan Horton famously didn’t play the second half of the Bruins’ series with Vancouver due to a concussion.
Last season, he didn’t get any postseason run because of the concussion that felled him in January against Philadelphia.

BOSTON — Just after the Bruins’ morning skate ended with Chris Bourque staying on the ice along with perennial healthy scratches Lane MacDermid and Aaron Johnson, TSN reporter Bob McKenzie broke the news that the Bruins had placed Bourque on waivers.

At 11:59 P.M. Saturday it’s widely expected that the NHL will enter into a lockout when the collective bargaining agreement expires.
But that didn’t stop the Bruins from handing out one more giant contract extension to one of their key players who they’ve decided will be part of their foundation going forward.

Instead of reporting to training camp with the Boston Bruins in an attempt to supplant a veteran from a roster spot, several top prospects and journeymen players will instead report to Providence’s camp once the lockout, in all likelihood, begins late Saturday night.
Twenty-three players, including four that cleared waivers, were assigned to the P-Bruins today.

It was as an informal deadline that everyone knew the Bruins and Tyler Seguin wanted to avoid during contract negotiations.
With the collective bargaining agreement set to expire Sept. 15, Boston’s No. 2 overall draft pick from 2010 and the team wanted to make sure that they wouldn’t be affected by any new clauses in the forthcoming CBA.

BOLTON, Mass. — His fellow 2010 draftees Taylor Hall and Jeff Skinner have done it. His linemate Brad Marchand recently did it.
So it figures that Tyler Seguin signing a contract extension prior to the beginning of the last year of his current deal should be in the offing.

Regardless of what the new Collective Bargaining Agreement looks like, Brad Marchand will not be a restricted free agent next summer.
The Bruins today made sure of that by signing the speedy winger to a four-year extension worth $4.5 million annually starting in the 2013-14 season.

Subban
As business in the NHL slowly creeps along in light of the approaching lockout, the Bruins today took care of some more roster-building work by securing the services of what they hope will be one of their central building blocks year into the future.
The Bruins signed 2012 first-round draft pick Malcolm Subban to his entry-level three-year contract.
While more NHL-NHLPA negotiations wrapped up today (set to resume Aug. 22) and a lockout remains a real possibility, at least on team named Bruins in New England was able to tell us when they’ll be playing a game that counts this fall.
Boston’s AHL affiliate in Providence today released it’s 2012-13 scheduled along with the other AHL teams.

Nathan Horton should be ready for training camp/By S. Bradley
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli revealed today that forward Nathan Horton has been cleared for contact.
Horton missed most of the second half of last season with a concussion after a hit from Philadelphia’s Tom Sestito Jan. 22.

Chiarelli
To no one’s surprise, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said today during his press conference to announce head coach Claude Julien’s new contract extension that we shouldn’t anticipate any earth-shattering player moves, or any at all for that matter, before training camp in the fall.

Most of his players from the last couple seasons’ worth of rosters have done it, so why not the coach?
Following in the footsteps of the majority of his key Bruins players, head coach Claude Julien today agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the club.

Aaron Johnson
A week after they got journeyman Garnet Exelby to sign a two-way deal with them, the Bruins today inked another well-traveled defenseman to a one-year, two-way contract.
